(( ooc: Kept this in here for everyone else who hasn’t responded yet, but Toxin isn’t here yet. ))

Maxwell: Aye, it's a shame we didnae serve longer taegether but its been grand. Milly's going tae miss you as well, no that she'd ever admit tae it in public.

Etan: It’ll be our secret, Max.

Sherlock/Any: Responses

Max passed what looked like a photograph to the first officer, he could just make out Max and Etan’s faces.

Maxwell: Bit ae something tae stick in your new quarters.

Rouiancet: Or your ready room. Let the new crew know you have a softer side. (beat; raising an eyebrow at Max) Or that you're friends with rough-and-ready marine officers, who wouldn't hesitate to step in and toss a misbehaving lieutenant out an airlock.

Etan: Oh, definitely my ready room. :: he responded with a wink.::

Sherlock/Maxwell/Any: Responses

Herrick: Errr… Commander?

The man looked towards the engineer with his warm friendly smile.

Herrick: I… just want to say thank you for everything. While it won’t be the same here without you, those on the moo-moo are privileged to have you and I’m sure some plucky ensign’s going to get you in trouble with humanoid resources. (beat) And… I have something for you… a legacy of sorts. oO I hope this is some evidence as to how much your guidance meant to me. Oo

He unfolded the gift, a custom shirt, in front of the new captain making sure to show both sides. After passing it to the man, who stuck it in his arm with his other gifts, he and Josh exchanged a firm handshake that had a warm note of finality with it.

Rouiancet: Well, we shouldn't delay you any further. Do you need help with anything?

He shook his head, bundling the presents into the case of Altair Water bottles. The group accompanied him into the transporter room and as he stepped up to the pad, setting down the duffel and the case, he turned around for one last look.

Etan: Walk with the Prophets, all of you.

Herrick: (nodding) 'Til we meet again sir.

Rouiancet/Sherlock/Maxwell/Any: Responses

(( Deck 4 Saucer, USS Octavia E. Butler ))

Toxin dashed through the halls towards the transporter room. Initially, he had gone to the shuttle bay, thinking that Etan was leaving that way. However, he soon realized that Etan was leaving via transport. Now, he was racing to get to the transporter room before Etan departed.

In his hand, he carried a stylish mug inscribed with the phrase “Type-J”. This was a memento from one of the first missions he'd served with Etan. On that mission, they had flown a shuttle around a Type-J planet to save time while searching for a lost ship. It was a risky maneuver, but Etan trusted the then-new ensign. Given the emotional significance of Etan's departure, which was profoundly affecting Toxin, he found it fitting to present this token.

As he turned the final corner he didn’t expect to run into a crewman heading in the opposite direction, the mug went up, up, up, and then crashing down into shatter pieces, his heart sank. He was already late, he had no time to make a new one, this one he’d made himself, not replicated. He took a mental note to come back and clean up and continued his journey.

Etan: ::nodding to the transporter chief:: Energise.

Arriving outside the transporter room he took a deep breath and then entered as a beam of light illuminated the room, his heart sank for the second time that day as his first first officer dematerialized.

And with that, he was gone.
