Stendhal: Milk? Sugar? Some prefer their tea with a slice of lemon. I recommend one of those biscuits to you.

Karen osservò Jack mentre sorseggiava il te che gli aveva offerto. Non aveva aggiunto niente, scelta interessante.

Kessler: (looking to Karen and sitting the cup down) I do not regret going on the mission. If offered again, I would go in a heartbeat. My parents’ lives are and were at stake. Of course I’d go. (beat) but if you want to know, yes I’d change how I approached things with those closest to me. But hindsight is a pain in the tail isn’t it? Time to move forward and amend what I can from here and make things as best as I can.

Stendhal: One can only learn from past experiences and look ahead to try not to repeat the same mistakes, if they can be considered mistakes. After all, we can't prevent everything.

Kessler: (leaning forward) The XO wants to know if I am for duty. Did I handle things with Nesre and Krystal the way I should have? No, but that is part of being human and growing with each other. (beat) Did I make a mistake in taking on the mission? No and I stand by that. As I said, if the choice was given again I would take it. If the choice were offered to go after any Starfleet officer under the heel of a hostile force, I’d take it. That’s my job and that’s why I am on this ship.

Stendhal: We can let the XO know you're good for duty. I agree, all of this can be a valuable learning experience for the future. It is something personal indeed.

Kessler: You bet it’s personal. Every day I wake up and put this uniform on, I have someone’s life in my hands. It’s personal every day.

Stendhal: OK that's great! Carry on with your good work!
Karen smiled back at Jack.

Kessler: I want to say thank you for your time Karen but I do know what I need to do now and I know how to amend what and whom I have wronged.

Stendhal: I wanted to thank you too. It was a pleasure meeting you, having a chat, and sharing tea together.  Remember, there's nothing wrong with the way you're doing your work. By the way, you're always welcome here if you need anything. A chat, a shoulder or even just a tea!

Karen stood up and greeted Jack with a warm smile as he was leaving.
