(( Ship's Library, Deck 10, USS Octavia E Butler ))

Josh’s neck was craned upward, looking at the literary collection of the ship now affixed to the ceiling.

As he did, he wondered if the library was well trafficked, given his assumption that most individuals preferred immersive experiences like the holodeck, or at least the convenience and small form factor of a PADD.

Lahl: Well, that’s certainly not supposed to happen.

Herrick: You don’t say…

It seemed like every engineering investigation on the Sagan class started with Lahl’s assessment. Galaxy classes may be the ‘old dogs of the fleet’ but they were documented well enough that surprises were rare.

Herrick: What’s your leading hypothesis?

Lahl: Well, I doubt it’s the gravity generators.

Herrick: You sure? They do seem to be resisting the urge to bend to gravity’s will.

As she turned around, Josh lowered his gaze so she wouldn’t have a direct eyeline up into his nostrils.

Lahl: Well, if for no other reason than the both of us are still on the floor.

Josh tapped his feet on the floor, and took a few steps around, trying to assess the quality of the grav-gens based on what he felt. Everything seemed to be at 1G.

Lahl: I just hope it’s not a cosmic being messing with us somehow.

Herrick: (smiling) I would hope that they’d have better things to do with their time… but then again I don’t know what passes for fun if you are a cosmic being.

The was a thud, and then another more pronounced one by his foot. As Josh started to look down, there was a yelp behind him and he was immediately knocked off his feet.

Curator: Nooooo! ::watching another book drop:: No no no! Fix this, some of these are FIRST editions on loan!

Josh raised an eyebrow at the demanding Denobulan.

Kimonzi: Response

Curator: ::huffing:: Obviously from the Federation archives; do none of you read the newsletter?! I told them this was a bad idea and did they ever listen to Maff; of course not! ::breathing heavily with nostrils flared::

Kimonzi: Response

Josh leaned up, just in the nick of time. Another heavy thud landed behind him, and as he twisted to see what it was, he saw it read ‘War and Peace.’

Herrick: The cover seems in immaculate condition.

Maff: ::picking up the thick book and holding it closely:: I lead the restoration work and while I’ve been diligent in bringing them back to their former glory. ::a wide frown growing on them:: But you see this… :: showing a cracked spine:: It’s going to take ages to fix this.

As he showed it, a small metal device slid out of the small gap now created between the cover and the edge and hit the carpet with another dull thud.

Kimonzi: Response

(OOC: Feel free to sim the Attendant as you wish)
