Forsyth: They were advanced once, so it's not out of the realm of possibility.

Alex was not fully versed in the I-Kiyoians' history, but she knew that they suffered some kind of hard reset and were starting over again. The recently encountered Konaii were in a similar state, having lost their homeworld to the Dominion.

Arlill: Certainly not.

Enak: So, we have a statue that may show people memories from the past. However, we probably shouldn’t be touching it, right?

Alex certainly was not going to touch the statue, even if it did sound somewhat cool to experience memories of a dead civilisation. She just did not know how dangerous the tech could be to their minds.

JoNz: ::doesn't look up from the sketch:: Touching is bad.

Riley: True enough. Though the question then becomes, what form of interactions do we take with this thing to study it safely?

Commander Arlil stepped toward the statue again. Alex, caught off guard, moved to intervene, but he froze before she could. The sudden stillness unsettled her.

Enak: You ok Commander?

Alex waved a hand in front of the Commander’s face. He remained absolutely still, not even flinching.

JoNz: ::to Riley:: Definitely heads on a swivel. I can handle the ears on a swivel as well. ::flips an ear back to illustrate::Response

Forsyth: Oh, boy…

Alex opened her tricorder again and took a scan of Commander Arlill's brain waves, and let out a sigh of relief that he was still alive. She would hate to lose their first officer under her watch, especially on his first day.

Riley: I also did a passive scan of the perimeter just to see that we didn’t have any more uninvited guests. Haven’t found any yet, but heads on a swivel, as they say.

Alex continues to monitor Commander Arlill, collecting as much data as she can before he suddenly snaps back to reality, looking around the room.

Arlill: Who did that and why!?

Alex gave a confused look and then looked at her tricorder, wondering if her scanning had perhaps interrupted the vision, but it seemed it might be someone else the Commander was asking that question to.

Enak: Who did what?

Riley: Response

JoNz: Sir?

Forsyth: Sir, what happened?

Arlill: I saw Kaelith

The tactical officer had heard that name before, suddenly remembering the debrief she got from Lhanny's earlier visit to the planet.

Enak: Who is Kaelith?

Riley / JoNz: Response

Forsyth: Breath slowly, sir.

Arlill: The creature or hologram that Lhandon mentioned in his last debrief.

She tried to recall what she read in that report, wishing she had brought her PADD along.

Enak: Apologies, I’m not remembering this at all.

Riley / Arlill: Response

JoNz: ::to Enak:: It's a digital-type being that was encountered by one of the other away teams in a separate chamber complex.

Forsyth: Some kind of Artificial Intelligence, we're not sure.

Enak: Ok, I want to be clear, I’m not doubting you, I’m just saying I didn’t remember this debrief.

Alex understood that, remembering that the information was only shared with starfleet officers, and not with the dig team.

Forsyth: This would have been between starfleet officers, sorry.

Riley / Arlill: Response

JoNz: As far as I could tell in the report, this being appears at random and is low on power.

Enak: Well, that certainly sounds interesting.

The tactical officer did not feel comfortable with a hologram that could appear anywhere at any time, and felt the need to constantly check over her shoulder for said hologram.

oO Not terrifying at all, no siree… Oo

Riley / Arlill: Response

JoNz: Interesting is one word for it. If we could trigger the sequence for this Kaelith, and he appears to all, I'm sure we can get some answers?

Forsyth: How do we know if this  Kae…Kaelith is friendly or not?

Arlill / Riley / Enak: Response

JoNz: ::purrs:: I have an idea.

Forsyth: Let's hear it, ensign.

Arlill / Riley / Enak: Response

JoNz: I say we find a way to access the statue, specifically Kaelith, using different frequencies to see if we can trigger the hologram or whatever it is into appearing to everyone?

Forsyth: Hmm, it could be a bit difficult as we don’t know a lot about this technology….

Arlill / Riley / JoNz / Enak: Response

Forsyth: I’m not saying we shouldn’t, but it might take a while to understand how it works.

If Lahl were here, she would say something snarky about how we are cavemen trying to understand how a computer works. Alex wanted to test her engineering skills, however, and trying to hotwire a statue seemed the best way to do just that.

Arlill / Riley / JoNz / Enak: Response
