The team was carrying on a thoughtful conversation with the digital being, one that seemed to hit barriers when the information they sought became too sensitive as deemed by Kaelith. Toxin was frustrated because their focus seemed to waiver from their mission, and he had the responsibility of getting them back on track.

Kaelith: I'm unsure—I was secured out of fear the knowledge would be lost to evil beings and brought back online when these archeologists' presence was detected.

Riley: Such a memory gap could be explained by the long deactivation period.

JoNz: That seems a very long time to be dormant.

Forsyth: So you don’t know what happened here?

Enak: I mean, does anyone here?

Riley: Anything you could tell us would be helpful.

Arlill / Kaelith: Response

Forsyth: I see, must be terrible to find out everyone here is gone.

Enak: Has to be.

Kaelith: Not terrible, unfortunate, but their knowledge is well preserved. Now I find new species, new visitors, like the leaves budding after a hard winter, they bring knew knowledge for me to intake.

JoNz: Mister Kaelith, do you recall anything in your existence known as the, uh, I think it was the Dark Bringer? It was mentioned by one of the angry beings earlier before you were brought back online by us.

Forsyth: I think it’s Dusk Bringer, but good question.

Enak: Nothing I’ve heard of.

Riley: (quietly, almost to himself) Fascinating…

Kaelith: My knowledge does not contain these Dusk Bringers, can you elaborate on their intentions, origins, existence, history?

Arlill: I think there may be time for that later, for now, let’s focus on what we can learn about the Befores and how that information might help us here and now. We need to know what the mercenaries want and either take it from this place or give it to them. They won’t be leaving otherwise.

Jonz / Enak: Response

Forsyth: Were they the evil beings mentioned by the befores?

A good question, in Toxin’s mind, maybe they had some relational tie to the mercenaries that are here now.

Kaelith: The Befores spoke of an external threat. There were many debates, discussions, and finally a vote to take me offline, for preservation. I am glad my knowledge was protected, but it is unfortunate further knowledge of the threat couldn’t be captured instead.

Jonz / Enak: Response

Forsyth: What other races do you know, might help narrow it down?

Enak: It’s possible that the races Kaelith knows have passed on.

Kaelith: Without further access to external databases it’s very likely the races I’m aware of no longer exist or have evolved in some manner.

Arlill: That many years, evolution wouldn’t be out of the question. Neither would the merging of space borne species.

Riley: Interesting, and how long ago did you say that was?

Kaelith: Response

Enak: Well, that’s a good point. Can you tell us what races you’re not allowed to talk about?

Forsyth: Um, don’t you mean one he allowed to talk about?

Kaelith: As mentioned before, knowledge can be dangerous, when provisioned to ill suiters. Information regarding other races remains a restricted subject matter.

Arlill: Ok, ok, maybe we focus beyond historic knowledge. Is it possible the mercenaries are after your technology?

The conversation was becoming a little too much like the seminars from academy that Toxin either tried to get out of or slept through for a reason. He wanted to learn more about Kaelith’s technology, how he operated, how he existed and reached into their sensories, the information he could share, obviously limited at this time, would need to be studied by the scientist and historians.

Enak: It was worth a question.

Riley: I don’t necessarily agree that it was the Dominion, because the timeline doesn’t seem correct. Admittedly, my knowledge of this particular sector is limited, but none of the major Dominion conflicts in recent memory stretched out this far.

Forsyth: There are not really any other races that are old, at least not in GQ.

Enak: Response

JoNz: ::slight mrrowl and tail lash:: Persnicikity piece of equipment. ::adjusts tricorder since it won't recognize the word she typed::

Riley: I’m not saying it couldn’t have happened, just that it’s probable that the Dominion wasn’t the culprit.

Forsyth: All I know is that they've been around long before the Federation was thought of in President Archer's mind, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are that old.

Enak: Response

JoNz: ::puts in comment without looking up from data typing:: Personally, I’ve always been a fan of Archer’s prized beagle.

Forsyth: I’m sure some are still around, somewhere.

These beings seemed to jump around topics often, Kaelith was programmed to intake information at rapid rates and process it linearly, but sometimes the conversations would take longer to process when topics changed rapidly. Kaelith remained silent and listened.

Arlill: Kaelith, do you have any knowledge a species called the changelings?

Kaelith: If you are referring to metamorphic beings, there are some references, vague, with limited knowledge I can share. The only information I can give freely is that they were marked as ::beat:: use caution when researching.

Riley / Enak: Response

JoNz: Prized ****beagles still around? Or other races? ::to all/general with a little grin::

The furry being seemed focused on whatever these beagles were, possibly a delicacy for that species? A log was created by Kaelith to further examine the feline-like species.

Forsyth: Ok, what were the Befores like?

Arlill / Kaelith / Riley / Enak: Response

Kaelith: The Befores, allow me to share what I am permitted to, were a great species. They were adept at creating just about anything they dreamed up. I was invested by one Before who was fascinated with the absorption of knowledge, only they felt their own senses were far too limited to absorb it quickly enough, so he devised a system, K-A-E-L-I-T-H which could take in information from many sensory inputs.

Arlill: What does your name stand for.

Kaelith: In the Before’s language it’s hard for your tongues to replicate or brains to abosrb, but it roughly translates to “Knowledge is Everlasting, Knowledge isn’t Good nor Bad, Knowledge must Grow.” ::beat:: It loses some of it’s esteem in translation.

Riley / Forsyth / Enak: Response

Toxin was about to jump in with a few more inquiries when the ensign nearly dropped their tricorder, it loudly advertising some type of Zet ad campaign.

JoNz: Uh ::to all:: Excuse me, but we may have a communications problem with the ship…

Arlill: Report ensign?

JoNz: Response

Arlill: Can we confirm the source of that transmission?

JoNz: Response

Arlill: The O-E-B?! That can’t be good! ::turning to Kaelith:: Do you have enough energy to reach out to the ship?

Toxin moved around the room, opening up his own tricorder, it’s screen showing a Zet ad. He tried bypassing it, but it seemed to persist.

Kaelith: I’m afraid my systems have stabilized but my external transceiver, as you might perceive it, isn’t full powered.

Arlill: Ok, that’s fine, thank you, ::turning to the others:: we need to get to a beam out location. There’s plenty more to learn here, but our ship might be in trouble.

Riley / Forsyth / Enak / JoNz: Response
