Aine had been busy this shore leave. Most often she enjoyed having a few drinks and unwinding. So she was taking the chance now, regardless of being on-duty. She was going to let her hair down. Figuratively of course...she had to keep it up literally.

Sherlock: ::to Koryan:: What about you, where do you think he should end up?

Koryan: Who, him?

Aine glanced back and forth between them. She wasn't leaving the Lieutenant's fate up to the bartender, maybe. Though she was sure if more people followed their local bartenders advice, they'd be better off.

Koryan: Not sure.  If he’s the sort to go with the flow, perhaps it’s more interesting to simply allow him to ride the wave of fate rather than try to manipulate it.

Richards: Less goals, less to be disappointed about in the long run I guess.

Sherlock: Guess we're all just along for the ride.

Aine actually agreed. A lot of Cadets had grandiose goals. Many based on the legends they'd heard of officers that came before them. She'd learned early on to "keep her world small." To focus on the goal at hand. Keeps you focused. Keeps you from worrying about things that haven't happened yet, nor may even happen.

Koryan: I like to think I carve out my path forward.  At least, mostly.

Richards:  Maybe I should have been a bartender instead.

Sherlock: You had options? But still chose here?

Koryan: I got asked if I wanted to join the OEB, and I said yes.  I could have gone to another ship, but I kind of like it out here in the Gamma Quadrant.

Aine took another sip. She could disagree with the man. There was something about being on the real frontier. Something that did harken back to those legends.

Richards: A lot of people seem to like being this far out.

Sherlock: It's not so bad. ::shrugging:: Places to discover, people to meet.

Koryan: Besides, I have to keep people well watered here - and it’s the chance to learn new types of drinks.

Sherlock: I'll drink to that.

She raised her glass before taking another sip. It was almost a universal constant, drinking and socializing. Who knows, and given some other officer's negotiating tactics on-board, the bartender may be the key to peace in the Gamma Quadrant.

Richards: You’ll have to invent your own drink.

Koryan: Maybe at some point.

There was a brief moment, a break in the conversation as they stood their drinking and just being in the moment.

Koryan: Do you think you might get tired of the status quo and seek to do something else?  Either in Starfleet, or out of it?

Richards: Like what? … Are you hiring?

Koryan: response

Aine grinned and laughed at the exchange. She imagined an old bartender, wise in their words, telling tales to patrons. Ones of finding new life and new civilizations.

Richards: Well it’s not like it can get more against the status quo than Starfleet right?

Sherlock: Perhaps. I guess ::beat:: once you're out here after a while, it becomes the norm.

Koryan: response?

Richards: Life has a lot of choices it seems.

Sherlock: It's all choices. Every second of every day. Small problems to big ones. Choices...and change.

Aine's face was a little solemn, but not in any negative way. Every now and then something philosophical came out of her mouth. Maybe it was experience and age. Time did have a way of maturing one whether they were ready or not. Or maybe it was just the whiskey.

Koryan: response?

Sherlock: Me? ::finishing off her drink:: I choose to have another.

End Scene For Sherlock

((OOC: Feels like a good place to end and let Richards explore.))
