(( Data Core?, Surface, Marohu III ))
Forsyth: Ok, what were the Befores like?
Enak: They were quite technologically advanced, that much I can say.
Alex was curious about the Befores’ culture, especially aspects connected to her family legacy or heroes, though a part of her always found alien histories fascinating.
Riley : Response
Kaelith: The Befores, allow me to share what I am permitted to, were a great species. They were adept at creating just about anything they dreamed up. I was invested by one Before who was fascinated with the absorption of knowledge, only they felt their own senses were far too limited to absorb it quickly enough, so he devised a system, K-A-E-L-I-T-H which could take in information from many sensory inputs.
That makes sense. The human brain, while being a very complex organ, is capable of many things, like memory and processing information. It was far from the best option to store things, hence why computers were invented.
Arlill: What does your name stand for.
Kaelith: In the Before’s language it’s hard for your tongues to replicate or brains to abosrb, but it roughly translates to “Knowledge is Everlasting, Knowledge isn’t Good nor Bad, Knowledge must Grow.” ::beat:: It loses some of it’s esteem in translation.
Enak: Better than I’ve heard in other places.
Forsyth: We’ll work it out. Our translation matrix is very good; it can understand stuff that you wouldn’t think of as languages.
There are talking plants within the federation that can communicate with the help of the Universal translator, and even whale talk could be translated.
Riley: Response
JoNz: Uh ::to all:: Excuse me, but we may have a communications problem with the ship…
Arlill: Report ensign?
Alex turned to look at the Caitain with a small but growing concern on her face, feeling a bit uneasy upon hearing that there was trouble contacting the ship. A small part of her hoped that it was just interference with the stone walls, or even just something wrong with their combadges.
Arlill: Can we confirm the source of that transmission?
JoNz: Confirmed source is the Butler and its not our equipment that has the issue.
That was not good, and the tactical officer tapped her combadge just to make sure. There, she got a small ad playing before turning to static.
oO Damnit, knew I should have stayed on the ship…. Oo
Arlill: The O-E-B?! That can’t be good! ::turning to Kaelith:: Do you have enough energy to reach out to the ship?
Kaelith: I’m afraid my systems have stabilized but my external transceiver, as you might perceive it, isn’t full powered.
Arlill: Ok, that’s fine, thank you, ::turning to the others:: we need to get to a beam out location. There’s plenty more to learn here, but our ship might be in trouble.
Alex nodded, quickly started grabbing some of the stuff they brought. She was trying not to panic, reminding herself that everything was fine and that the crew was capable of handling things themselves. There was a small part of that hope that Lahl Valk, every one of her friends was alright, as well as Carl.
Enak: Well, in that case, it was nice meeting all of you.
Forsyth: Wait, what?
She blinked at him in confusion, but remembered he was a civilian and not of starfleet.
Riley: Response
Enak: I’m still digging here. If y’all are moving on, I’m staying here.
Forsyth: Right, of course.
Although Alex was not sure if leaving the dig team down here alone was a good idea, if the mercenaries returned while they were away, then there would be nothing to stop them from stealing any more artefacts.
Riley / Arlill / Kaelith: Response
Enak: I will ask that you leave the generator here so I can talk to Kaelith some more. Assuming he’s willing to talk to me.
JoNz: I'll defer to the seniors but I see no issues with leaving the fusion-reactor.
Forsyth: Don’t see why, sir?
They had no further use for it and could make more anyway, but they should leave instructions just in case something breaks or gets damaged.
Riley / Arlill / Kaelith: Response
Enak: Thank you.
Forsyth: Okay, be safe now.
Riley / Arlill / Kaelith: Response
Alex gave a small wave before quickly following her team back outside,
JoNz: I hope nothing serious happened. ::walking briskly::
Forsyth: Me too…
Arlill / Kaelith / Riley / Enak: Response
JoNz: And the Zet are who?
Forsyth: A highly dangerous and capitalistic race that has been a threat to some of the crew, they can also be annoying at times. We have one on the ship, and he was very badly injured.
She remembered her interaction with Prince Grend and how he nearly destroyed the ship's system by trying to upload his late father's consciousness. He seemed like he could be a nice guy, but there were a lot of things about him that needed improving.
There was a small part of her that wondered if Ehths had betrayed them. If he did, then she would make him and King what his name regret messing with the wrong ship.
Arlill / Kaelith / Riley / Enak: Response
Forsyth: There is one Zet that seemed to have a vendetta against the Captain, long story, and I was not there for most of it.
oO Too busy getting bombarded…Oo
She still could not believe that was the second time she had survived an orbital bombardment, although the first time was a bit more dire.
Arlill / Kaelith / Riley / Jonz / Enak: Response
Alex walked up beside Commander Arlill, switching to her tactical officer mode. She was already working on plans just in case they ran into any resistance when they returned to the Butler, although she was not what they would expect once onboard.
Forsyth: Sir, if it is Ehths or even King….Tortilla, then we may have to fight our way through.
Arlill / Kaelith / Riley / Jonz / Enak: Response
Then she realised something, one that could be a hindrance to their return to the ship.
Forsyth: Understood, but how do we get back to the Butler?
Arlill / Kaelith / Riley / Jonz / Enak: Response
TAG/TBC
