((Now - Lower Aft Cargo Bay, Deck 11, USS Octavia E Butler))
Anton had been called to inspect a crate that had been causing all sorts of problems for the crew. This seemed like a perfect opportunity for Anton to showcase his usefulness and skills to his new shipmates.
Nilsen: And that’s how we ended up here. I can’t get this crate open, the ship can’t scan it. So…your go.
Anton inspected the object carefully - it was in fact a container that of which he was certain.
Richards: And we aren’t sure what's in it?
Anton had a look of surprise on his face, not because a container managed to slip in seemingly unprocessed, but because there was such an interesting puzzle available to him so quickly after arriving aboard his new ship.
Nilsen: No idea who the owner is either.
Lhandon sat nearby whilst Anton paced around the perimeter of the crate.
Nilsen: I tried to trace where it came from, but even that data’s been scrubbed.
Richards: Hm…
Anton attempted to scan the crate himself, although a tricorder was not his tool of choice, he tilted his head like a confused hound being presented a confusing object.
Nilsen: ::quietly:: By the way, your combadge is on upside down.
Anton looked down towards his chest, tilting his head in another way. He was right… Damnit.
He adjusted the badge to its correct position, only for it sway back almost sideways a short time after.
Richards: Oh yeah… it’s these new badges they are handing out.
Anton hadn’t received any type of new badge. But he had already moved on to something else.
Nilsen: Response.
Anton ignored the comment, he was now waving his hand in the seemingly empty space around the crate.
Richards: The weight, has it changed at all?
Nilsen: Response?
Anton stood back from the crate before leaping forward into the empty space beside it. Immediately inspecting the object afterwards before repeating. Almost as if he thought that if he was quick enough with his leaps his motions would somehow reveal the content of the crate.
Richards: What about sound, has it ::beat:: said anything?
Nilsen: Response.
Richards: Oh… That’s too bad.
Anton scanned the object for real this time, and he was quickly filled with excitement. He turned and looked towards his shipmate, smirking.
Nilsen: Response?
Richards: Oh, you’ll see.
Anton pulled a small tool from his pocket which he used to pry open a small panel on his tricorder. A quick hover over the components on his tricorder with the beam produced by the tool and Anton replaced the panel.
Richards: You might want to stand back.
Nilsen: Response?
