((8 Forward, The Writer’s Room, U.S.S. Octavia E. Butler))

Lahl: You know, you’re the second person who found that amusing. Lieutenant Herrick brought it up when we were fixing the transporters.

Salo: If you know Jack, then yes, it’s amusing.  But I wouldn’t worry about it.  If he told you to do it, then you did the right thing.

That did make her feel a little bit better. Though she still hadn't heard if Commander Promontory was going to have issues.

Lahl: Thank you.

Salo: It was certainly a way to introduce yourself to those on the Butler, wasn’t it ?

Kimonzi chuckled a little bit at that.

Salo: Does it bother you that you shot him?

Lahl: I think probably more that it became seemingly necessary.

Salo: I imagine there will be all sorts of things that happen.  Starfleet does try to prepare their cadets as best as possible.

Lahl: Oh, definitely, it’s just, different out here you know? And none of my past lives have experienced anything quite like this before. I’m the first Lahl to be a member of Starfleet.

She looked over, wondering if the counselor was someone who was in the know about Trill physiology, or if Lahl was going to have to go into her canned explanation again.

Salo: Response

Lahl: Yeah, I am joined. The sixth in the line of the hosts of Lahl. I took a two year sabbatical from the Academy to go through the initiation. Somehow I was able to complete it in that time.

Salo: Response

The Trill scratched her spots at the question about why she had sought joining. She didn’t talk much about it. That may be something she would need to talk to a counselor about, some latent anxiety about the Symbiosis Commission finding out and taking Lahl away from her. This thought process probably wasn’t healthy for the Symbiont if she thought about it long enough, but that little voice in the back of her mind still tickled every so often.

Lahl: Ah, I actually didn’t want to be joined until after I started at the Academy. ::still scratching her spots a bit:: But while I was there I realized that I had the qualifications thanks to my delayed start at the Academy, and my academic accomplishments. I was lucky to get my symbiont within two years. ::smiling as she spoke, the information truthful, but not necessarily fully complete::

Salo: Response
