((The town center, New Faren, New Bajor))
Was that what this was? An extended mind-meld? But surely a Vulcan could tell where their mind started and the other person's began. Yinn and Loq had lost that separation almost immediately. Everything they remembered, everything they knew, everything both of their bodies felt, it all belonged to the same person.
Of course, that person's bodies felt confusing and unwieldy. Not in the puberty sense, more like trying to pilot a shuttlecraft for the first time with no instruction. They tried to focus on Loq's body. Just move one hand. Then one arm. Push up, and roll over. Babies learned to do this, they could do it. It took a few tries, but they rolled into Loq's back. Not terribly graceful, but it was getting easier. Everything in Yinn's vision was tinted blue, as Loq looked up at a clear sky, but that was certainly easier to process than double vision.
Fer’at: Hm. The most logical thing to do would be to return to the ship, though Sickbay might be the better choice.
Brzezinski: (shrugging) Sure. There’s a decent cMRI in sickbay, that would probably give us some vital information.
Yinn: The science lab makes more sense. I am not unwell, and my research on Antari telepathy is there.
Brzezinski: The more we learn, the better.
Fer’at: That may be so, but logically, they would benefit under a medical officer’s care.
Brzezinski: Well then logically we’ll either have to go back to the ship or beam a medical officer down here. (beat) But without all their equipment, I don’t think they’ll be nearly as effective.
Fer’at: Then it would be best if Loq and Yinn make the choice, as the condition is theirs to bear.
Loq: We should go to the lab, but have a doctor on hand.
Brzezinski: Great, I’ll call one down!
Fer'at: responses
Yinn: You know, one of us could be in each place. The distance alone might separate us, but if it doesn't, that may support a theory I have—
But Rivka, as she often was, was oblivious to the people around her and already onto the next step.
Brzezinski: =/\= Brzezinski to the Butler. We have a medical emergency at my location and need a shuttle, stat! =/\=
OEB Coms Tech: =/\= Roger that, do you just want us to beam up those at your location? =/\=
Brzezinski: =/\= No! No transporters—the officers are in too delicate a condition—actually, can you beam a shuttle to our location maybe? Or close by? =/\=
OEB Coms Tech: =/\= Uh… I dunno. I’ll see what we can do. Either way, we’ll get you that shuttle. =/\=
Yinn: Beaming a shuttle down seems excessive. A short wait will do no harm. The more time I have to adjust, the better.
They tried to focus on Yinn's body now, and get her into a sitting position. After a few stumbles, they gave up and lay on her back, propped up with her elbows. It was already getting a little easier — not to move, but to mentally keep track of which body was doing what.
Fer'at: responses
Rivka stepped back to the others.
Brzezinski: I got us a shuttle, it should be here real quick.
She played with the settings of her neuro-sensors and started another pass.
Loq: One thing to look for, which I don't think you can scan for here, is quantum entanglement. My working theory—
Yinn: Sorry. I was developing a theory about the Alpha Brenkelvi aliens. Our brains are neurons connected by electrical impulses. I believe their brains are tachyons connected by quantum entanglement. I think the Antari may use a similar entanglement, which the leaves somehow make possible. So I think my... our brains are entangled on a quantum level. I don't really know how that's possible, but it should at least be easy enough to detect in the lab.
Fer'at/Brzezinski: responses
Loq: To be honest, I would rather have more time to study... myself. And I worry what effect disentangling us would have on me. Us.
As frustrating as the double vision and lack of motor control was, nomenclature was proving to be the biggest problem.
Fer'at/Brzezinski: responses
