((OOC: Still reading posts. Had some emergencies come up. Nothing shattering, just annoying. This is a quick one to get into the swing of things. ))

((USS Octavia E Butler - CMO’s office - Sickbay deck 5))

Dr. Toz laid the last padd aside and leaned back in the comfortable Chief Medical Officer’s chair. Yep, she admitted that she wanted the position. And, full lieutenant if she could get either one or both. Not up to her, though.

The one thing Toz couldn’t let go of: she needed to find her bat’leth. She had her knife but that wasn’t enough. She couldn’t tell her father and her mother wouldn’t care. Certain she’d lost it during that fight on Cheydalanga, she needed to return to that gawdforsaken planet. To the awful mines. If they were back in operation, she could end up being a slave again. So… cumshaw a shuttle. She’d need a pilot. Who? Nope. Can’t ask anyone to help her obtain a shuttle without permission. Was that actually stealing? Oh, well. Toz shrugged. Probably. oO Nope. Not going to do that. Oo

Computer: Patient Arriving on Biobed 4.

As Josh materialized in Sickbay, Toz's head came up so quickly she almost had a whiplash. Thank the lords sickbay was pretty well cleared of patients. Twelve hundred had been too much. She rushed out to help settle the engineer.

Toz: What happened?

Herrick: (sniffing the air) Did my uniform get singed?

Toz: Of course. You’re a burned mess, Jay Gee.

Herrick: Burns all over?! (beat) Why don’t I feel anything?

Toz: The transporter has a way about it. Now. What happened?

Herrick: response

Toz: Computer, 3 ccs of kelotane. Lieutenant, you’ll be fine in no time. I’m keeping you here for the next 12 hours so relax and maybe get some sleep.

Herrick: response

Dr. Toz sighed. Not her heavy sigh, just a little one to calm herself as she looked up the man’s history. Did he have a penchant for getting himself burned or otherwise injured? Was he prone to illnesses? So many questions…

Toz: Nothing in your medical record, Josh. So this is an unusual occurrence, I take it?

Herrick: response

Leaning against the bio bed, Toz waited for an answer or explanation. She decided it was best to smile and hopefully get his full trust. Engineers were weird as evidenced by Lt. Nilsen. Maybe they weren't all alike.
