Koryan kept a vigil in the lounge and over the course of time, he’d gotten to know most of the people there.  Faces walked through those doors and he remembered them all.  He remembered their stories too.  Like Loq and Yinn.  He’d heard about the strangeness of the two minds joined into one, but still had two bodies.  Koryan couldn’t wrap his brain around it, but fortunately he didn’t really have to.  He’d serve them just as he served anyone else.  And Maxwell, though he was a newer officer, the Kazleti recognised him as well.

Koryan: Have you met?

He motioned between Loq’Yinn’s two bodies and Maxwell.  He hadn’t seen them in there together before, though he also recognised they hadn’t exactly come together either.

Yinn: We were on Cheyd'lang at the same time, but in all the chaos, we didn't really get to talk.

Maxwell: Aye, we've really had much time tae talk. Yinn, right?

That was all right.  Just as Koryan had hoped, the very fact that he’d brought up the matter of acquaintance led to them introducing themselves to each other.  That was another cool thing about being a bartender - he could help connect people, and when one was in Starfleet, one needed connections.

Yinn: The one and only. Or two. It's funny, my brains started working in sync almost immediately, so the hardest part is just knowing how to talk about myself.

Maxwell: And... Loq too, right?

Koryan: The two and only.

Koryan grinned as he made quick work of their orders and slid the requests to the prospective owners.  While he did keep real alcohol in stock, he restricted it quite carefully.  No one would get drunk on his watch.

Yinn: I'm also in the gym right now, practicing with a bat'leth. I think that's been the biggest adjustment; that one body is much weaker than the other, and one's more agile. A Bolian's life begins when we first touch the ocean, and now part of me can barely swim. And of course a Klingon who can't swing a bat'leth is no Klingon at all.

Maxwell found amusement in that, for a grin spread across his face.

Maxwell: I'm fair pally with a guy that's a dab hand with a Bat'leth. He's aboard the Butler as well if you wanted a sparring partner?

Koryan: Sounds like you have options!

Koryan didn’t offer himself, and there was a reason for that.  But it wasn’t necessary, because Yinn…or Loq…Loq’Yinn?...had someone to go to.  Besides, there were likely others that would be happy to oblige.

Yinn: I normally don't like to take breaks from work, but Counselor Salo says I'm using that as an excuse to avoid learning how to adjust socially. I keep telling her I never took breaks before either!

Koryan: Think of it as an opportunity to sharpen your skills in other areas.

In the Klingon side’s case, that could be taken quite literally.

Maxwell: I could name a fair few officers that you have tae drag away from their stations tae be honest.

Koryan: Eh.  It’s not good for you.  At least come in for a drink every once in a while.

After all, he was there, and they might as well take advantage of what he had to offer the ship.  And he was a damned good mixologist.

Yinn: Response

Taking a sip of his scotch, Maxwell gave a light shake of his head and offered another grin.

Maxwell: Oh no, none ae that. That's what the senior officers are for.

Koryan: Of which, thankfully, I am not one.  Care for another?

Thus far, neither of them seemed impaired at all, and if they got the barest hint, he would cut them off immediately.  Until that point, he was glad to offer them drinks - and if necessary, virgin versions of them.

Maxwell/Yinn: Response

Koryan: So let’s just say you decided to take time off from work.  No swimming, no bat’leth.  What would you do?

It was an open door and an opportunity to learn more about the people in front of them.  Even though he knew their faces and their names, that didn’t mean he really knew them.

Maxwell/Yinn: Response

Koryan: After that last mission, I imagine some time to relax will benefit everyone.

Even Koryan had been shaken by what he’d seen, though he’d sait not a word to anyone.  That he would keep all to himself.

Maxwell/Yinn: Response
