((Outside Forzot’s Exotic Beasts, Helix Station))

Halloway: I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this, sir. :: Beat. :: I'm security, it's kinda my job to ask questions.

Granted, Diplomatic Security was properly a bit different to the normal one, but they probably overlap like Tactical, Marines do from time to time. Clara was also making sure that what happened was just a misunderstanding, or not.

Catona: Why yes, of course. :: scratches the back of his head and looks away :: I may have asked what he thought gave him the right to purchase and use something so dangerous.

Shyvo: T-that almost sound a-accusatory.

It did indeed, which complicated things for them. Clara rubbed the bridge of her nose in frustration, trying to understand his reasoning for asking such a question.

Still rubbing her nose, Clara wondered if it was a scientist's trait to say things without thinking, as Ivash had done similar things, like when she asked him about a dress that she wore. He told her, not intentionally, that it made her look less fat than before.

Catona: It was simple curiosity, nothing more. We don’t hold any legal authority as far as I know. But surely a pet store owner must know the harvest of Dhusnid spines is dangerous and problematic.

Shyvo: T-there is no f-Federation authority here, even if we think something is d-dangerous and problematic. We have, erm…different legal and d-d-diplomatic things to c-consider.

Halloway: The Federation does not enforce its laws on non-members; we are not the Cardassian Union.

oO Well, the Old Cardassian Union…. Oo

The Prime Directive prohibited them from interfering with outside powers, which include enforcing their law. They had little authority out here, and that meant they could stop any illegal activity that was happening on the station.

Catona: They’ve been used in more than one high-profile assassination attempt in the quadrant in the last few years. :: holding his hands up :: Now I’m not saying our friendly Cheyd had anything to do with that, but it does make one wonder.

Shyvo: Is that s-something y-you suspect, sir?

Halloway:  I should advise not accusing anyone of anything without the proper evidence, which I assume you don't have.

Catona: Response

And yet as Clara thought about it, the more it made sense. If the Cheyd had a legit business, then why did he get so defensive unless he was hiding something?

Shyvo: Well then y-you, or we should r-report this, sir.

Clara agreed, but she doubted it would be that easy.

Halloway: We should, although we don't know if station security will help us.

Catona: Response

Shyvo: W-what are you suggesting, sir? We should w-w-wait for Commander N-Nilsen. T-tell him instead!

Clara noticed how nervous Shyvo was getting, as he tugged the hem of his uniform. She wanted to try and calm him down before he had a panic attack or exploded.

Halloway: I have a feeling there is probably very little he can do, without proof anyway.

Even if Lhandon could do something with his diplomatic skills to help, if they were going to investigate the shop owner, then it was going to have to be done off the books.

Catona/Shyvo/Any: Response

Halloway: We should inform station security, even if it does not go anywhere.

That was not always the case, as back when she was a part of the Eagle crew assigned to Denali station. Clara remembers the mission where Commander Falt, Kettick, Kendrick, and Alex were working with Lightside Station security to help track down some Red Guard members.

Catona/Shyvo/Any: Response

Halloway: If they don’t do anything, then we'll try to talk to Commander Nilsen about this.

Catona/Shyvo/Any: Response
