((USS Octavia E Butler - Sickbay deck 5))
Dr. Toz was in deep thought as she made her way back to her office. There was a lot to think about. She avoided running into bio bed 1 by a mere fraction of a second or millimeter depending on how one was counting. She didn’t need another bruise on that hip.
The synth ban was lifted? Was she that far out of touch with reality? What was it Josh said? Violent altercations at Utopia Planetia, the Earth Spacedock and at Fed HQ. Each time, Starfleet Security has been able to get a hold of the situation. What will that change? When will Starfleet Security be overwhelmed?
Dr. Toz looked back at Lt. Herrick, her forehead ridges making deep furrows as she frowned. Was it possible her time in the mines dulled her senses? She made a mental note to speak with Nurse Miash about that. Maybe get a scan of her own brain. Luzinski… Brekinski… anyway, that Inkski person that did brain scans. Toz sat heavily in the CMO’s chair not getting the thrill from it that she usually did.
It was time to return to work. Be the doctor she’d always wanted to be. Picking up a padd, not paying much attention to which one, it turned out to be the report Miash had just completed.
A Klingon, Loq by name, had eaten a large amount of Antari leaves. That shouldn’t have been an issue.
According to Miash’s notes, the leaves are toxic in large amounts. Toxic even for Klingon’s who have redundant organs. Dr. Toz thought of several things that might happen: injury to the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, gastrointestinal tract, and lungs. This would cause pain, coughing, vomiting, and shortness of breath. In a Klingon (as in when her father had an allergic reaction to mom’s chocolate chip cookies) poison can present itself simply as an allergy. Toz decided to go with that idea. After all, Alizine wouldn’t hurt and would probably help.
Carrying a padd, walking carefully past several biobeds, Dr. Toz was able to catch Nurse Miash’s final sentence.
Miash: … I’m going to give you a general analgesic for the pain and ask Dr. Toz to continue this evaluation.
Moving to the table next to the biobed Miash retrieved a hypospray and injected the large Klingon with the analgesic.
Toz: Hello, everyone.
Miash: response
Yinn: Doctor! Thank goodness we're here. We have a Klingon with no stomach lining, as a result of some combination of eating moderately toxic leaves from Cheyd'langa, multiple quadrants' worth of alcohol, and... um... certain mildly acidic Bolian bodily fluids. (notices Miash) Oh! Sorry. That's your job. I'll get out of your way.
Yinn gingerly swung her legs up and lay back in her own biobed.
Toz: Five cc’s… ::eyeing the size of Toq:: make that 15 cc’s Alizine, nurse. ::beat:: These readouts indicate Klingon’s do much better when not subjected to strange and exotic fare. ::glaring:: Ensign Yinn, yes, I mean you.
Miash / Yinn / Toq: response
Toz: If you’re going to have romantic liaisons, please use caution in future.
Yinn / Toq: response
Toz: Oh! Very well, how about cutting down on the experiments?
Yinn / Toq: response
OOC: Found a little time this morning. That happens when I get up at 3AM.
