Max had quite literally bumped into a new face.

It wasn't the first time it had happened during his career, or even his life and it made him wonder for a moment where Eireen was and how she was getting on.

Maxwell: Are ye new aboard, or have we just no bumped intae each other before?

Nis: Trust us, if we weren’t new, we’d have bumped into you by now. We … tend to run into people a lot.

Us?

It took him a moment before he registered the spots that marked her out as being Trill. He watched as she picked at bits of sandwich from where it had been smushed against her during the collision.

Maxwell: I know that feeling. ::He pointed to the sandwich.:: First time theres ever been a casualty though.

Nis: Wait, are you the one with the cat?! He was hanging out in medical a bit ago actually. He’s a real cutie.

Max flashed a grin at her.

It seemed that Haggis was becoming quite the rockstar aboard the OEB with his regular wanderings of the corridors and departments. It was only a few days ago that he found a senior officer – who Max had sworn to keep nameless – rolling about on the floor of their office as they played with a happily yowling Haggis.

Maxwell: Aye, thats me. Guilty as charged. ::He paused a moment.:: No holding you up am I?

Nis: We were just headed to the holodeck. We bought a program that is supposed to replicate any part of Trill perfectly. That’s where we’re from.

With a nod and a light smile, Max traced a finger along himself in imitation of her spots.

Maxwell: I'd never ae noticed. Guessing you're a wee bit homesick?

Jania gave a sigh.

Nis: Well, I wouldn’t say homesick, but … Maybe a little homesick. This is my first time offworld. Nis has been around quite a bit, but not me. Are you from Earth?

Maxwell: You'll adjust tae it. ::He gave another nod.:: Aye, that I am. Scotland if you want tae be precise.

Nis: Response

Maxwell: It's no bad. Wonderful scenery thereabouts. I grew up in a wee house a mile or so out ae the town. How about yourself?

If any house in the area could be described as “wee”, it certainly wasn't the Maxwell home.

Nis: Response

Maxwell: I've no been hame for a while now. ::He motioned about, indicating the ship.:: Doubt I will for some time yet either.
