((Avander’s Personal Quarters, Deck 2, USS Octavia E Butler))
Avander sat at his desk, staring at a holo of the newly commissioned Deep Space 14. It was a beauty; its curves evoked the grandeur of Bajoran influences mixed with the classic lines of a Federation facility. It was a striking symbol of their presence in the Gamma Quadrant, orbiting over the colony world of New Bajor.
He was just zooming in to get a better look at the impressive arboretum-like covering over the outer habitat ring when a coms chime interrupted.
Sh’shelor: =/\=Sh’shelor to Promontory. =/\=
Promontory: =/\= Go for Promontory. =/\=
Sh’shelor: =/\=Please meet me in the Marine Intelligence Office=/\=
Avander didn’t catch that the call had ended and continued to speak to the empty air for several minutes, before realizing that he was speaking to no one. Fortunately, Meander didn’t seem to mind. The small creature, far from being embarrassed for its human, barely stirred from its nap.
Promontory: Sleep on buddy. You’re going to need to save your strength for our DS14 adventures!
((Marine Intelligence Office, Gator Deck, OEB))
Avander had not spent much, if any, time on deck 12 and wasn’t quite sure where the ‘Marine Intelligence Office’ was. The computer, however, helpfully illuminated lights indicating the direction he should go when he hesitated at a junction and in no time he had navigated the green-carpeted halls to the designated office.
Promontory: You rang?
Sh’shelor: I have something to show you.
The screen was full of text and numbers.
Promontory: Ooh, is it data? I love data!
He stepped forward to get a better look. Much of what was displayed had faint trace lines connecting transactions of some sort. The strands were tenuous and cut across a large swath of different organizations.
Promontory: Ok, I recognize some of these. This one’s a front for the Jeshian Liberation Alliance… and this one… I think that’s a mercenary group. But some of these are less familiar to me.
Sh’shelor: Response
Promontory: But you think they’re connected?
Sh’shelor: Response
Promontory: I see. (beat) Interesting. You may be right.
Avander stood up and paced around the small room. He couldn’t go very far without turning around. These marines weren’t big on ‘thinking space.’ Perhaps he should bring Ithri up to the Intel Suite.
Sh’shelor: Response
Promontory: Well, let’s look into it. =/\= Promontory to Locksley, Can you pull everything we have on (beat as he read one of the repeated names on the ledger) the K'ktor? =/\=
The affirmation came immediately and succinctly.
Promontory: They do go work, we should have whatever else SFI knows about them shortly. (beat) Then the real work will begin.
Sh’shelor: Response
