((Timeframe: Early, early, early shore leave.))

(( Hydroponics, Deck 10 Saucer, USS Octavia E. Butler ))

A meeting in hydroponics? That was a new one on Aine. And though she grew up the daughter of a farmer, she herself was more of a murderer of plants. She never intended to kill them, so maybe manslaughterist* of plants? Botanoslaughterist? Normally if she stepped foot into hydroponics she'd expect the blue shirts to start screaming at her to leave. And they'd be in the right.

As she approached at the time requested she spied the other message recipient coming from the opposite side of the corridor. As she approached she held out her hands and tucked her lips, silently asking if he knew what this was about. His shrugged indicated he knew as much as she did.

When they entered she saw all the shelves of random plants. Some of them, she wondered what they were, and if they were dangerous. But mostly she just knew they were green and that she shouldn't touch them.

Rouiancet: Avander, Aine. Thank you for joining me.

Promontory: Of course, anytime you need us, boss.

Given their Captain's casual tone, Aine opted to step out of the "zone of formalities" herself.

Sherlock: ::through a cheeky grin:: This isn't what I pictured Captain's Quarters looking like.

Rouiancet: I'm becoming acquainted with the ship, one room at a time. Have either of you been in here yet?

Promontory: I can’t say that I have. (looking around) This is an impressive bay.

Sherlock: Definitely not. I'm not much of a green thumb. You?

Rouiancet: (with a small shrug) No, not particularly.

There was a moment of silence. Similar to one's Aine had seen many times. The briefest seconds of reflection. She'd learned when a senior officer offers those moments, it's best to just keep quiet and take in the moment.

Rouiancet: Iljor has been offered a command of his own: the repaired and relaunched 'Oumuamua. However, unless anyone specifically requests a transfer, the crew will remain on the Butler. Congratulations are due to him, and he deserves the promotion -- but that also means that the Butler needs a first officer. (to Avander) Avander, I had hoped that you would accept that role. (to Aine) And that you, Aine, would agree to become second officer, in addition to continuing as chief of security.

Aine was surprised. That was a lot of news in one breath. First, Iljor, the XO she knew when he was just an Ensign and their friend Meidra referred to as their little brother...and now she wondered if they ever told him that? Was now getting a ship of his own and she couldn't be more proud of him. But then there were the offers. A big step for Avander and her. One she didn't ever consider might happen for herself.

Promontory: I’m honored, sir. (beat) And I assume this wasn’t a light decision…

Sherlock: ::side eyeing Avander's glance:: Changes like this rarely are easy. But, ::eyeing back to Lia:: I think we can handle it.

She followed up her statement with a nod. Thankfully for Aine, it didn't mean too much of a change from her job. Largely personnel decisions, which she was used to from her time on 118. Not so lucky for Avander as his job, and especially his responsibilities would drastically change to something much heavier.

Rouiancent: Response

Promontory: Yes. Of course, yes!

The (now former) Intelligence Officer's exclamation made her snap her view to him. For a time, she forgot how excitable he could get. It was an odd feature that Aine had noticed right away that set him apart from most other Intel Officer's she'd known, and one that made her trust him almost instantly. It was like he didn't allow himself to become the job like most of the others.

Sherlock: ::still looking at Avander:: I think that means he wants the job.

Rouiancet: Responses

Promontory: What about the intelligence functions on the ship?

Sherlock: I assume they're going to send us an Ensign that knows nothing?

Rouiancet: Responses

Aine only knew of this person by reputation. A career Intel Officer who specialized in the Gamma Quadrant, and more specifically, The Dominion. She was happy to hear it would be someone experienced and knowledgeable...and serious.

Promontory: I see. Effective when?

Rouiancet: Responses

Sherlock: That soon? I'll make sure we get an info pack together so she can get up to speed on the happenings here.

Rouiancet/Promontory: response

Sherlock: Are there any pressing matters we need to look into before we arrive at DS 14?

Rouiancet: response

Aine looked from Lia to Avander and shrugged.

Promontory: response

Sherlock: That should be easy enough.

Rouiancet/Promontory: response
