PNPC Nurse Aide Martha Wing: On my way

Computer: Recording.
I’m on my way to Earth, San Francisco. To the medical academy. For training.
That sounds short. Computer, delete and restart personal log.
Computer: Deleting. Recording.
Okay. I’m on my way to the Starfleet medical academy in San Francisco at the recommendation of Doctor Toz on board the Octavia E Butler. She’s the acting chief and her kindness toward me gives me a bit of confidence. I know I can do this.
I’ve brought my study materials with me so I can study. It’s gonna take about a week to get to earth. Oh, yes, they won’t let me into sickbay. Well, I was able to visit and meet their head nurse but I can’t do any work there. The head nurse is Marlon. She’s a lieutenant, I think. She rushed me through sickbay so fast, I didn’t get a good look at her rank. It’s okay ‘cause I don’t think I’d like working with her. She’s not like the head nurse on the Butler, Miash.
You know, Miash was real good to me. She’s a Ferengi but she’s not like the others. She wants to help people, not make latinum off them. I did notice that while in sickbay, she kept putting things back in their bins. I’m not like that. I put things back from whence I got them. And I expect others to do the same. But Miash doesn’t and I’m sure that spoils the other nurses. When I'm CMO, though, I'll insist on everyone putting their own stuff away.
My quarters here a pretty dinky. Bunk beds, and no bunk mate. Thank the stars for that! I got a tiny little bathroom, barely big enough to get a shower. It’s a sonic shower which is okay with me. There’s a desk which is where I’m sitting now. That’s it. That’s my quarters. I’m not confined to guest quarters but I am confined to deck two. I want to tell them to contact Dr. Toz but I suppose they have their reasons for keeping me to deck 2.
I haven’t met the commanding officer and haven’t even heard his name. Or her. That’s not going to be a problem, anyway. I’ll only be here about seven days. Or less.
There’s a small NCO club here on two. I went there just to find out what’s going on but it was mostly empty. I had a coffee then came back to my assigned quarters. So that’s where I am now. Needed something to do before I get all caught up reading nursing stuff.

NA Wing: Yes, I do! I forgot I needed to say that. Save as Wing, NA Martha.
Computer: Affirmative, saving as Wing, NA Martha.
Martha decided having a personal log was going to be fun. She could put anything in there and no one would know the difference. She could say the captain invited her to the bridge. That she was called to help with an influx of patients and she’d saved them all by coming up with the cure.
Wing: No, not gonna tell tall tales.
Pulling the “Basics of Nursing” from under the stack of books, Martha starting reading.
