((OOC: I know this was a quick response as I only just responded to this scene this morning, so no need to respond right away. But I had some ideas and needed to get them out there!))

((Gator Deck, Training Range, Deck 12, USS Octavia E. Butler))

So far, this was going better than Aine had expected. Michele immediately made note that she recognized her wrong doing. She herself knew how difficult that could be at times. She considered that a big step, but it was still just the first step.

Winters: It was a mistake to let myself go in there so heated.

Sherlock: I'm glad that you recognize your mistake. And you have to know there's going to be some form of punishment.

Winters: (In an irritated tone) Punishment? Seriously?

Aine's lips tucked in some frustration. She looked at Michele for a second before her eyebrows made the slightest tick upwards. Yes, seriously.

Sherlock: I'll cut to the chase oORip off the band-aid?Oo, you're going to be assigned to Engineering. They could use a good medic down there, they have had a series of injuries. So don't just patch them up, please teach them to quit hurting themselves.

Winters: Engineering? You want a Marine down in Engineering?

Sherlock: Yes.

Before Michele could say anything else, it was Aine's turn to hold up her hands and stop her in her tracks.

Sherlock: I want you to know that I heard every word you said. Every concern. Every fear. And I also want you to know that I will be watching closely and if anything seems out of place with him, he will be pulled off the line immediately.

Michele's hands went to her hips and Aine could feel the frustration. She knew this was one of those times that might set the woman over the edge. And now she was considering also assigning some extra counseling sessions focused on how to deal with anger...like she herself had to do not so long ago after she yelled at an Ensign. Granted, he deserved it because he was acting a dramatic idiot while they were trying to defuse a bomb. But still, she could have kept a cooler head at the time.

Winters: Fine. I won’t make a scene about this but I am not an Engineer.

Sherlock: Oh I don't expect you to become one. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Just, get them in line.

A small attempt at humor, she hoped would lighten the mood just a little.

Winters: Well, if they keep injuring themselves, then removing a limb or two might make them think about their actions.

Aine grinned deviously and shrugged sarcastically. She didn't disagree. Someone couldn't get their arm mangled if it wasn't there to begin with, right?

Sherlock: I ::beat:: unofficially ::beat:: do not disagree with you.

Winters: As long as you and I are on the same page about this then I’ll back you on this. I still do not trust him, something is off.

Sherlock: I really do hope you're wrong. No offense. But like I said, if anything is off, I won't hesitate. I promise you that.

Winters: response

Aine had more to say, and she hesitated. She had gone over it a dozen different ways and not one of them seemed right. And now that things seemed to be going well, if she'd said any of those things she practiced, she risked losing it all. She was going to have to wing it.

Sherlock: Michele, I know I said this was, engineering thing, was punishment. But I want you to look at it differently.

Winters: response

Sherlock: A second chance. ::she held her hand up again, just in case Michele was ready to react:: When you were my Number One, you did amazing. We were in a shit situation, and I couldn't have done it without you. I believe in you. And I trust you. And I want to see you up there again. So, when you're down there, in engineering hell, don't be afraid to lead.

Aine thought to herself that she ought to improvise speeches more often. That had come out way better than anything she'd practiced in front of the mirror. Probably because it was genuine. She believed Michele, deep down, had what it takes to become something more than just a Marine Medic.

Winters: response
