Now that they were all caught up on the latest news, they were left with not much in the way of answers. They did have some news leads thanks to Telek finally filling them in on everything. First priority was to make the rest of the teams had that same info.
Ragh: Hmm. It probably wouldn't hurt to check in. Everyone needs to be warned and take proper precautions.
Nilsen gave a nod. Ragh did not envy the job of the First Officer right now, but appreciated his assistance all the more. A shared burden is a lightened one.
Richards: We should send out an alert then.
Nilsen: You’re right, I’ll get a comm-line going shortly.
Ragh: Thank you, sir. This turn of events is most alarming. What to focus on now..
Ragh spoke to himself more than anyone else. What should he focus on now? The root cause was the Ketra Omni, true, but this contagious element is the bigger risk at the moment.
Richards: Let’s run some analysis on that data, and see what we can come up with. Maybe we will have better luck.
Nilsen: I like the sound of that.
Ragh: I will get right on it.
oO Just as soon as I get everything I need arranged. Oo Ragh made a mental reminder he would have to talk to Telek again.
Richards: We should also take into consideration what an antidote might look like, under the circumstances that recipient cooperation might not be an option.
Nilsen: Yes. Ragh, what are our responsibilities and ethics in this situation, where a patient is resistant to treatment? And I guess in this context...
This was the tricky part, unfortunately.
Ragh: Well assuming the patient is not of their right mind or otherwise incapacitated, 'inplied consent' allows me to make the decision that would save the most lives and prevent the most harm. The question we need to answer, are those infected by the rage considered mentally competent to make their own decisions? As it stands, I would think it's appropriate to deliver an 'antidote' in emergency situations..
Richards: Response
Nilsen: Right, duly noted. I got in touch with the other teams. Richards, do not be surprised if I...
He was cut off by his PADD beeping, and took a moment to read the message. oO What now? Oo
Nilsen: Alright, that changes things. The OEB has left orbit. The Sower is now our point of contact…gimme a sec.
Ragh wondered what Nilsen would tell them. And also, the Butler left orbit, but why? Too many questions and very few answers.
Ragh: I will begin work on.. an antidote. I suppose if that could be developed, it is the higher priority. Wouldn't really be fixing the root cause but it would keep us and other innocent bystanders safe.
Richards: Response
Nilsen: I need to talk to them. Ragh, keep working on the theory.
Ragh: I will reach out to Telek again about getting everything set up. I'll keep you posted.
Richards: Response
What started as checking out different medical facilities to gain some insight on a drug epidemic, has now turned into the development of an antidote to a highly contagious 'rage'. Ragh pondered again on the fact someone was killed and that a member of the crew was possibly bitten. He had to cast these thoughts aside for now. He had little time to spare, and way too much to do.
-End scene for Ragh-
