Forsyth: I-I think this could also be a great way for him to learn about his father's career as well, He has been wondering what Starfleet is like.

Rouiancet: ::holding her palms up:: Hold on, please. Mister -- Valk? (a glance at Josh, then back to Valk) Why do you want to crew a Federation starship?

Alex gave a puzzled look at the captain, unsure as to why she was asking him this if she didn’t know why already.

Valk: I served as an engineering technician on the Vulcan freighter Yarahla under Captain T’Ven.

Herrick: Yes but… logically speaking, you could get Starfleet exposure anywhere there’s a Federation outpost or shipyard. Why the Butler?

Valk: The Butler is one of Starfleet's most advanced vessels, Yes?

Forsyth: Yeah, A Ship like this would be a great experience for an engineer.  

Rouiancet: Yes, that's exactly what I mean.

Valk: I needed a change of scenery, I felt like I wasn’t living to my full potential.

Forsyth: Yeah, So I offer him to join me on the Butler.

Rouiancet: Oh, I see. Well, I don't see any difficulties, though (beat; considering the pair) I am curious how you two came up with this plan. Why not crew a ship of your own?

Forsyth: Um well….He started getting bored not having work to do, So I told him I would see if Lieutenant would let him help out in engineering.

Valk: I also do not have the skills to be a captain, I much prefer fixing things.

Valk also lacks the credits to afford a ship of his own, the vulcan merchant fleet didn’t pay well.

Herrick: And how versed are you in our protocols and tech?

Valk: I have been reading up on Starfleet protocols provided by Alex and I do read the Engineer Weekly from time to time, Which sometimes talks about new tech in Starfleet.  

Forsyth: Yeah, He apparently never misses an issue. 

She notices this when he brings his stuff from Yarahla and has two boxes full of these magazines, there are more of them than there were his clothes.   

Rouiancet: Response

Herrick: (looking to the Captain) So a trial basis for 3 months, and see how it goes? 

Rouiancet: Response

Valk: That would be acceptable, Thank you.

Forsyth: Yes, Thank you for helping us.

Herrick: (smiling) Well, I would expect nothing less; it’s important that we be the right fit for you as much as you are for us.  (Beat) You said your dad was in Starfleet?

Valk: Yes, a Captain Robert Forsyth.

Forsyth: Valk is my long lost brother, Sir. 

Rouiancet: Response

Herrick: Response

Forsyth: It was in my transfer request, It said my brother would be joining me as well.

Rouiancet/Herrick:Response

Forsyth: I forgot you were not the butler when I arrived, Cap’n. 

Alex should have remembered that but going to trill with Nis and help Kessler with the torpedoes system, she has been distracted and forgot to double-check first.   

Valk: It was a simple mistake, sister.

Rouiancet/Herrick:Response
