(( Restroom, Solar Sail Observation Hall, Deep Space 14 ))

Toxin was always impressed by the new DS14 station. It possessed a historic elegance while offering modern amenities befitting a station of its class. As it orbited New Bajor, Toxin couldn't help but appreciate what this station represented for the Bajoran people. To him, it symbolized a new tomorrow—a future as explorers who were part of a larger tapestry. Though Toxin took little stock in religious matters, he respected the Bajorans for their beliefs and admired how the station resided just outside the Prophets' temple, appreciating the grand way they honored their faith.

Toxin stood before the mirror in the rest room, his class A uniform with its red pinstripe feeling tight, like his duty uniform. oO What are you afraid of...? Oo he considered as he assessed his appearance. oO You've done this before, you've been here before, you'll do fine—it's just a new uniform. Oo As he finished his inspection, he adjusted his hair and rubbed his chin—it felt cold and bare, lacking its usual warm coat. oO With a new day and a new position, a new appearance serves as a reminder to all that a new beginning has come. Oo

Arlill: You’ve got this!

He was so engrossed in the act that he failed to see Ensign Yavok had come into the room. The ensigns inquiry almost startling him.

Yavok: Did you say something sir?

Arlill: Oh, umm, oh nothing ensign ::beat, while walking out the door:: enjoy your evening.

Stepping out into the observation hall, Toxin was awestruck by the sheer size of the space, with its spacious dome towering above. But it wasn't until he spotted the OEB and the Thor that he truly felt at home—like he was exactly where he belonged. He took a deep breath and made his way over to the captain.

He took his position amongst his fellow senior officers.

(( Solar Sail Observation Hall, Deep Space 14 ))

Rouiancet: Sorry. My mind wandered. (beat) As I was saying, I want to wish the departing Thor officers and crew the best from all of us staying on Butler. I want to especially recognize Commander Trake Promontory, the Thor's new commanding officer; Lieutenant Commander Josh Herrick, the Thor's new executive officer; Lieutenant Morro Caras, the Thor's new chief engineering officer, and...

The captain strolled over to where Lahkina was sitting to retrieve an ornate awards box—Toxin maintained his position next to Lhandon, their newest second officer.

Rouiancet: Lieutenant Commander Sevantha Saa, who will not only be the *Thor'*s new counselor and head of health, but also its new second officer. Please, join me in congratulating Commander Saa on her promotion, and all these officers on their new, deserved positions.

Saa: Response

Rouiancet: You'll also no doubt have noticed that I'm joined by Lieutenant Commanders Arlill and Nilsen up here, and that Commander Arlill is also wearing an entirely new uniform color. I hope you'll join me again in a round of applause for the new members of the Butler's command team, executive officer Toxin Arlill and second officer Lhandon Nilsen.

Arlill: Thank you sir, it’s an honor.

Choosing to keep his response brief, he had no plans for a big speech, but did have plans to meet with all of the senior staff over the next few weeks, beyond their daily staff meetings.

Nilsen: Responses

The captain accepted another awards box from Lohkina and opened it.

Rouiancet: All officers and crew who participated in the previous mission are now receiving the Explorer's Ribbon, or the appropriate star for repeated citations. Before I, and the new command team, descend upon to award additional ribbons and promotions, I hope you'll allow me to recognize these two fine officers publicly -- with, for Commander Nilsen, the Innovation Ribbon -- for Commander Arlill, the Distinguished Service Ribbon and the Captain's Commendation -- and, for both, the Leadership Excellence Ribbon. Each and every member of this crew who has served directly with these fine officers will know that these ribbons are deserved, not only for dealing with the chaos of the previous mission, but for the long histories of leadership and exemplary service that allowed my new command team colleagues to be in positions where their authority and experience was able to do the most good. One more round of applause, please!

Toxin stood at attention as the Captain pinned on his commendations. First, she affixed a star to his existing Captain's Commendation, then added the Distinguished Service Ribbon to his uniform. Next came the third star for his Leadership Excellence Award, and finally the Explorer's Ribbon. He was honored to receive them all, a proud smile brightening his face.

Rouiancet: Now! We'll be roving amongst you, handing out ribbons and pips, but don't let us interrupt your drinks and dinners to too great a degree. Enjoy!

(( Solar Sail Observation Hall, Deep Space 14 ))

Stepping down from the dias, along with Lhandon and Lia.

Arlill: Thank you again sir, it’s an honor to serve. I’ll begin my visits. Good luck you two.

Nilsen: Responses

With that, Toxin made his way to the first table where he was scheduled to present awards to crew members. He wasn’t sure how the seating was determined, but this table included Woolheater, Alt. Nilsen, and Kimonzi. Toxin stood behind one of the open seats, placing a medium sized ornate box on the table and his hands on the chair’s backrest.

Arlill: Good evening. I hope you're enjoying the festivities. I'll keep this brief, but after all, recognizing excellence is why we're gathered here tonight. It's my honor to acknowledge our crew members for their outstanding contributions and achievements. ::beat, picking up the box and opening it:: I’d like to start by recognizing all of you with the Explorer’s ribbon, as the captain mentioned.

Toxin handed the explorer ribbon to each of them to place on their uniforms. He then turned to Woolheater.

Arlill: Ensign Woolheater, if you would please rise. ::moving over to the ensign's position:: Ensign, you've especially stood out during this last mission for heroism in the face of danger, and your resourcefulness in an extremely challenging situation. For these reasons, the command team has chosen to recognize you with the Innovation and Life Saving ribbons, in addition to the Explorer's ribbon. Well done, ensign.

Woolheater: Response

Toxin pinned the two additional ribbons onto the ensign’s uniform.

Arlill: And if you wouldn't mind remaining at attention. ::to the rest of the table:: Ensign Woolheater has served the OEB with distinction and honor befitting a Starfleet officer. ::beat:: We believe the rank of ensign no longer suits an officer of your caliber and reputation. For that reason, we've recommended you for promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade. ::pulling out a hollow pip:: Congratulations, Lieutenant. ::extending his hand to shake::

Woolheater: Response

Arlill: Thank you Lieutenant, you may sit. ::beat, moving over to Alt. Nilsen:: If you wouldn't mind rising to attention please. ::beat:: You've been pulled from your own universe, taken by the collectors, and then thrust into an entirely alien reality. Such experiences would have broken many people, yet you've remained resilient throughout. In the face of danger, you took charge and led your team with fortitude and creativity—for these reasons, we recognize you with the Innovation and Leadership Excellence ribbons. ::attaching the ribbons to Sam’s uniform:: While these commendations can't replace your lost universe, I hope you take pride in what you've accomplished since joining us on the OEB.

Alt Nilsen: Response

Arlill: It's an honor to serve alongside you, Commander. ::beat:: And finally, Lieutenant Kimonzi, if you would please rise. ::beat, moving over to Lahl:: This last mission was a difficult one. We all felt the impact of that sound and the subsequent changes to our ship and crew. It's a privilege to serve with officers of distinction like yourself—those who exceed the expectations of a good Starfleet officer and set a higher standard for all of us to aspire to. ::beat:: You can be proud of your accomplishment—we are. For that reason I recognize you for your department leadership excellence with the Department Chief Ribbon, congratulations! ::adding the ribbon to Lahl’s uniform and then extending their hand to shake::

Toxin stepped around the table, once again, to the empty chair, resting his hands on it’s back after placing the ornate box back down.

Arlill: Lieutenant Woolheater, Lieutenant Lahl, and Commander Nilsen. It’s officers like yourselves that cadets and new ensigns look up to, they learn from you, they develop into great officers because of your leadership. I hope you take these commendations to heart, you’ve earned them, and you should applaud yourselves for such accomplishments ::clapping:: And with that, my friends and colleagues, I’ll bid you adieu for the evening as I continue on my path.

Toxin picked up the awards box and nodded to the officers at the table before continuing across the room to his next destination.

((ooc: Another Sim coming soon for the next table.))
