Miash wasn't upset about being excluded from the festivities on deck 8. What bothered her was that she was close enough to hear the music and voices with her ultra-sensitive ears, a stark reminder of her non-invitation. She wasn't an officer, and these events were typically reserved for officers. Though she had received an invitation to an enlisted social gathering on Deck 11, she declined. Those events were usually filled with young crew members seeking field commissions. Miash had once been one of those eager young members, but not anymore. Now, she found solace in her medical studies and Klingon literature, which was surprisingly steamy at times.

Miash was pleasantly surprised, she didn’t expect anyone at this hour, and definitely not while the awards were happening, but if she had to have someone coming knocking on here door, then this was a wonderful option.
