Ensign Elijah Kovacs: Meeting the 'buddy'

Eli’s lips were pursed at the chief’s statement that this other individual worked down in waste reclamation, but he knew better than to challenge a senior officer for something so trivial. Maybe the engineer had somehow not seen this very ‘unique looking’ individual in his recent assignments down in the bowels of the ship.

Arlill: Yeah, the department's pretty big. Easy to miss people sometimes.

Kovacs: ::trying not to offend:: Plus, we’ve had a lot of transfers lately. (beat) So are you often working out together? I rarely frequent this place so I’m not sure who the usual suspects are oO Bad word choice Eli! Oo

Arlill: We haven't been workout buddies for too long. Just happened to have similar schedules.

Eli’s lack of locker room talk had not equipped him well to know what normal discussion topics were in a gym, so he awkwardly worked to keep the conversation going.

Arlill: ::feeling a bit uncomfortable with the questioning:: Look, I should probably finish up here. Got a shift coming up soon.

Kovacs: Oh… um… alright. I can get on to my sets then as well. You… uh… you have a good day chief.

Arlill/Henri: Response

Something felt off about the Bolian/Tellarite hybrid. When Lhandon had first introduced them, the man seemed jovial and an open book. Now, he seemed closed off. Not as closed off as other officers, but it was more the personality shift that had caught him off guard.

Kovacs: Oh. ::looking towards Toxin’s ‘friend’:: I didn’t catch your name…

Arlill/Henri: Response

Kovacs: ::giving an awkward wave:: Nice to meet you; Elijah but everyone calls me Eli.

Arlill/Henri: Response

It seemed clear to Eli that there wasn’t much interest in the two of them becoming gym buddies and that was alright — he hadn’t even decided if he was going to be a regular, but this awkward interaction was reinforcing that it might be better just to stick to the programs on the holodeck.
