Ithri had discovered something in the course of analysing data in the Gamma Quadrant.  While a marine, she was also an Intelligence officer.  That meant she straddled two words, but she also looked at the intelligence with a different sort of eye than most IOs might.  It was with a military mindset that she scoured through the data that had poured in from contacts and tapping into communications over the course of the last few months.  There, she had discovered some odd patterns in the transactions.  In her training, such things indicated movement behind the scenes - an aggressive movement, and it didn’t bode well for those who lived in the quadrant. Bringing in Promontory, Commander Margaret Walker, evidently the new Director of Intelligence, had joined them. With their acknowledgement of what the information showed, the next step was clear.  Currently, they didn’t have enough information or proof to do anything, especially since there was no certainty as to who was coordinating it all, but they had to remain vigilant.  Since she had discovered it, Ithri had a personal stake in the matter.

Sh’shelor: If I may, I wish to personally pursue this.

Walker: :: she nodded anew. :: I have no issue with that. :: beat :: Commander? :: she added, her eyes shifting to Promontory . ::

Promontory: Like I said it’s your call. (beat) But for the record, I think it’s a great idea.

He paused for a moment and Ithri cast a glance at him.  His expression was unreadable, but since he was not Andorian, that came as no surprise.  They wore their emotions on their faces.  Ithri knew that certain kinds of Andorians did similarly, but not to the extent humans did.  Her own clan had been very reserved, and emotions emitted mainly through the antennae - though they also learned how to hide their innermost thoughts when need be.

Promontory: But I’d like to be kept in the loop on this matter as well. If it’s not too much trouble.

Sh’shelor: It is not.

Why it would be, Ithri could not guess, but she felt that it would be odd *not* to include him.

Walker: Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Promontory: Well, I mean, there’s a lot, but not on this matter, you made it just in time to get the comprehensive overview on the issue.

Ithri’s stark blue eyes darted between Promontory, who’s expression spoke to someone contemplating something but gave away nothing as to the subject, and the stern face of the new Director.

Sh’shelor: This was the issue I wished to address. I have no others at this time.

Walker: Response.

Promontory: The other matters can wait until morning, but I have a full orientation planned for you—both to the local intelligence team and to the ship itself.

Ithri nodded, assuming that she would be a part of that orientation.  It was certainly necessary with a new person stepping into Promontory’s shoes.  She liked the man, but thus far, she also liked the woman, and suspected she would do just as well in the role as her predecessor.

Sh’shelor: Then we will discuss more later.

Walker: Response.

For them all, the matter was only set aside until more information could be gathered.  Ithri would reach out to contacts in the area, some she had established on Port Loray and Port Coray, not to mention the other Starfleet ships now in the Gamma Quadrant.  Eventually, whatever was planned would come to light, and whoever was behind it would be found.  She would make sure of it.

[End for Ithri]
