OOC: Branching Vinette 3 into its own scene; but we’ll keep in light and breeze since the mission is just around the corner. 😊; added the PNPC engineers here.

((Engineer's Table, The Writers' Room, Deck 8 Saucer, USS Octavia E. Butler ))

Josh had been looking around the table; most of the engineering department was the same from when he first boarded the ‘Oumuamua a year ago. While Kammus had moved on, and Nijal had changed positions to Mission Specialist, the engineering team was well tenured with Sasha, TK, Shevon and Eli, amongst others.

Now, there was a new and welcome addition to their table — Morro Caras. Josh had briefly introduced himself when the ceremony had started, but now that Lia was going table to table, it was a good chance to learn more about the man past the transfer order he read earlier.

Herrick: ::looking across the table:: We’re glad to have you on the team Mr. Caras; I think the team would all like to get to know you better. How did you find your time at the academy?

Caras: Response

Johnson(s?) / S. Sherlock / Cabrillo: Response

(OOC: Didn’t know if Zarah’s [Sasha Johnson’s daughter] is at the table with us)

Herrick: (chuckling) I had that professor too, I used to play their recorded lectures at night to help me sleep. How someone can take a topic like that and dull it down the way he did will be a mystery. Did you specialize in any particular area?

Caras: Response

Johnson(s?) / S. Sherlock / Cabrillo: Response

Herrick: I’m a bit of a book worm, so I dabbled around a bit more than the average person — things like replicators, warp systems, holo- and LCARS programming. oO I need more of a social life. Oo

At the roaring sound of applause to his left, Josh saw that the captain and her yeoman had just finishing with the operations team and Lia was now walking towards the gang of Engineers, arriving with a gentle smile.

Rouiancet: Lieutenant Herrick, chief engineer. (beat) Josh, congratulations again.

Herrick: Thank you again, Captain.

He thought it was a nice sentiment to offer a more personal congratulations at the table.

Rouiancet: There's something more, actually.

Herrick: (shocked) oO More?! Oo

Josh was going to say it was all too much, but he remembered one of his past friends at the academy telling him to shut his mouth and smile appreciatively. As Lokin handed the ribbon to the captain, the chief engineer spotted a familiar design, a pair of darker red stripes on a lighter red background but now punctuated with a star in the middle.

Rouiancet: I was able to benefit firsthand from your knowledge and experience at Cheyd'lang, from your work on the bridge and your observations, to your presence in those first meetings with the UDP, to your actions on the surface when we encountered the King's Path and learned of the Mongar. You acquitted yourself magnificently, and that was part of the reason that I suspected that you were ready for the promotion and leadership of your department -- because you are able to make the best of any situation.

Herrick: ::taking the ribbon while smiling:: Thank you, and it’s been a distinct pleasure serving with you on this mission. ::holding his hand out to shake hers::

Rouiancet: Response

Herrick: Oh yes! Have you two had a chance to meet yet?

Rouiancet: Response

Herrick: I make no promises, but we’ll try to go easy on him ::winking to Caras::

Caras / Rouiancet / Johnson(s?) / S. Sherlock / Cabrillo: Response
