Nis: To a doctor, "weird" is a code for "potentially medically relevant."

But Toxin didn't seem interested in sharing.

Arlill: Nevermind I’m sure it was my imagination recovering from the hallucinations

Jania inconspicuously set the biobed he was on to monitor his brainwaves.

Nis: Perhaps, but even if it was a hallucination, it'll help us determine treatment strategies. ::Pause to glance at Guthrah :: Ensign Guthrah experienced hallucinations as well, and his brain patterns are still somewhat abnormal. Knowing about your experience will help us treat him.

Arlill: Response

As he spoke, Jania nodded and moved to Sh'shelor to treat her leg wounds. If the Lieutenant had ever been in sickbay before for injuries of this sort, she might have been surprised that Jania didn't bust out the tricorder.

After putting on rubber gloves, she examined the cuts, spreading a few with her fingers. Most looked to be from some kind of metal, but others looked like deep gashes from fingernails. She glanced at Sh'shelor's hands and noticed there was blue blood caked under the fingernails. oO Strange, but irrelevant to treatment. Oo

Nis: Most of these are superficial, but a few are deep and this one here has struck an artery. ::As she spoke, she used the back of her palm to put pressure on the one that was still weeping blood. :: The biobed will sterilize the wounds automatically. We'll use a vascular regenerator on the deep wounds before addressing the dermal wounds. We've heard Andorians sometimes like to keep scars. Should we leave any of these?

Sh'shelor: No.  not these.  Keep the old, but remove the new.

Jania nodded and worked on healing the new scars. As inconspicuously as possible, she cleaned Sh'shelor's nails, too. No use in her realizing she'd done some of these herself. It was clear they'd all been deeply affected by the hallucinations, and if she didn't want a reminder of the scars, she probably didn't want a reminder of how close she'd come to madness, either. As she cleaned, she realized there was some red blood under the nails, too.

Caras: I was pretty worried about Sh’shelor when I ripped her out of that pile of nodes. She wasn’t looking too good after that, but then she functioned just fine. Honestly the radiation was probably the worst part, because it was a kind of dread

Hearing that Morro had helped Sh'shelor, Jania checked out his arms. Sure enough, there were scratch marks on them. Sh'shelor must have scratched him, too, while he pulled her from the nodes.

As she put on a new pair of gloves, she wondered how many of the nodes had been real and how many had been imaginary. Without much of an explanation, she washed and cleaned Morro's wounds. They were only superficial, anyway. Although she'd ben exhausted by her time in the nacelle, she suddenly felt very happy that the experience in the nacelle was as close as she'd gotten to the presence on the planet.

Nilsen: We all were worried, that…no one should have to go through that.

Miash: Response

Arlill: What’s next? (beat) You’re all ordered to rest and relaxation, I’ll see to that!

Sh’shelor: Then you must listen to your own advice.

Caras: It has been a busy mission for everyone. Sh’shelor is right.

Nilsen: Yeah Tox, What Sh’shelor said. ::Painful laugh:: otherwise she’d throw you back in the bed too.

Arlill/Miash: Response

Nis: We're sure you'll be back nearly blowing each other up in no time at all.

Sh’shelor: First though, treatment.  Then rest.  Drinks perhaps.  Food.  And more rest.

Nilsen: Food. I like food. I’ve got some banana bread going in my quarters. Later I’ll get Eli to pick it up for us.

As Nilsen muttered about banana bread, Nis came around to him.

Caras: Don’t go easy on him, he caught me and that’s what took out his ankle. Or go easy on him? How is it supposed to go for medical? They say “do no harm” but does pain constitute harm? I just want him to be well as quickly as possible.

Lhandon laughed again, and Jania cracked a smile, too. They'd all likely be fine, eventually. Her symbiont had lived a long time, and she had memories of when radiation poisoning was a death sentence, but Starfleet medical technology was more impressive than these short-lived people probably understood.

Nilsen: Ha! You can’t talk like that to Lieutenant Nilsen.

Miash: Response.

Nis: We're glad to see you care about each other this much, though.

Caras: It’s just that we’ve got Rugby coming up, and then Nilsen has to do some dance with me. I think I can find a routine that really suits him. I want something that really fits his energy. He’ll need to be at the top of his game. For both.

Lhandon held his fist out for a fist bump to Morro. As he leaned over, he grimaced slightly, giving away the fact that he was in pain somehow. Maybe he didn't even notice he did it, but Jania noticed.

Sh’shelor/Arlill/Miash: Response

Nis: We don't know why you're all so evasive about your wounds. Sh'shelor we get--scars are a map of the places we've been. But if you've got some internal pain, nobody can even see it. What's the point of suffering in silence? Anyway, you don't want to disappoint your dancing partner, do you?

Nilsen: Alright, alright. I buggered it up when I was a SAR's pilot. You all saw the crash when we had that shared hallucination, and then in a rugby game the year after… and I think I twisted it on Cheyd'lang when the Antani helped with the jailbreak. But aside from that, it's all good. This is just normal for me.

Nis: It doesn't have to be normal, you know.

Sh’shelor/Arlill/Miash: Response

Nilsen: It got caught in the rungs of the ladder as I feel down the turboshaft. Not my finest moment.

As Lhandon talked, Jania traced her fingers over his ankle. She'd been told these kinds of behaviors were almost intimate for Starfleet personnel, who were so used to tricorders. That said, as for Morro's comment about "doing no harm," the palpations of Lhandon's ankle probably did not feel great.

Nilsen: Response

Nis: We see the issue. You have an avulsion fracture. Who knows how long you've had it. Basically a small piece of your bone has chipped off from the main bone; it's absorbed into the tendon. This is a simple fix. Nurse Miash, can you grab me an osteogenic stimulator?

Miash: Response

With the stimulator, Jania healed Lhandon's ankle in a matter of moments. She patted the newly-healed ankle.

Nis: All good and ready to dance. The radiation poisoning is going to take longer to heal, though. But the biobeds will take care of it. All y'all need to do is relax. We certainly don't mind if you continue to chat among yourselves--hash out what happened, if you need to. Just do it from your biobeds.

Anyone: Response

Nis: Fine, but if you get up, you risk suffering continued radiation damage. We have about six hundred pictures of untreated radiation damage on our PADD, and we will force you to look at them all if you don't stay in your beds. Now, our shift technically ended about five hours ago, so we're going to bed. :: Smiles at them all :: Why do we have the feeling this isn't the last time we'll run into y'all like this?

Putting her arm around Nurse Miash, Jania walked out of the sickbay. She let the door close behind her, but immediately opened it again.

Nis: Seriously. Rest.
