Commander Margaret Walker: A Promise to Herself

2nd Lieutenant Sh’shelor had the beginnings of an investigation on her hands. As Walker studied the data on the wall behind the Marine, she wondered how it would unfold and what it would mean for the Gamma Quadrant. The Andorian had asked to be placed in charge of the effort, and neither she nor her predecessor had any qualms in that regard. Despite their differing views on the future of the United Dominion of Planets, the Director of Intelligence suspected that the two would work well together.

With that particular matter taken care of, Walker turned her mind to other business.

Walker: Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Promontory: Well, I mean, there’s a lot, but not on this matter, you made it just in time to get the comprehensive overview on the issue.

Sh’shelor: This was the issue I wished to address. I have no others at this time.

The impromptu meeting was evidently coming to a close, so Walker got to her feet. As she did, Promontory chimed in once again.

Promontory: The other matters can wait until morning, but I have a full orientation planned for you—both to the local intelligence team and to the ship itself.

Sh’shelor: Then we will discuss more later.

Walker nodded her head once and looked between the Andorian and the part-El Aurian.

Walker: Very well. It was a pleasure to meet you both and I look forward to working with you in the coming weeks. Good day.

Without waiting for a reply, she turned on her heel and left the Marine Intelligence office. The corridor was almost empty save for a small number of technicians going to or from assignments. She headed for the port side turbo lifts and reflected on the conversation she had just taken part in.

There is something going on out here in the Gamma Quadrant, she mused. And I intend for us to find out what that is before it can threaten Starfleet… and the Federation.
