The next table held their tactical officers, Alex Forsyth and the recently returned Jack Kessler, as well as their even more recently returned Marine Commander, Wes Greaves. It looked like the old shipmates were getting reacquainted. Josh followed in tow, holding the pip and ribbon boxes.

Lia had offered her Yeoman to assist with the task but Avander and Josh had decided to go with an alternating approach, where one would speak while the other held the platter of ornate boxes. The last table had multiple passes back and forth, but they were starting to find their rhythm.

Promontory: Sorry to interrupt.

He gave a look at Greaves as if to say “you know how it is.”

Promontory: But we need to recognize this young lieutenant for her great work in the last mission.

Avander turned to Josh–he had had the conn when Mr. Forsyth had performed the actions that led to this particular award and it was only right that he present it. He held the box out.

As the gold-cladded officer rose, the second officer still couldn’t put it out of his mind that he’d issued her the order to fire, which likely sparked much of the events that facilitated this awards ceremony. He hoped that once these were done, he could leave some of these memories in the past.

Herrick: Your idea of using your EMP program from the Denali to disable the automated observation satellite allowed the away teams, as well as the ship, remain undetected until they secured the means that would facilitate our travel home.

He shot another glance towards the liaison, and as he did, he saw the individual laser focused on him; perhaps waiting for a slip up or a misstep but Josh had practiced these speeches several times over and he was not about to fall back into the grips of the DTI.

Herrick: For that, we bestow the Innovation Ribbon unto you and I’m looking forward to seeing more of your contributions aboard the Butler. You’ve started with quite the splash!

He affixed the ribbon of blues upon Forsyth, and then extended his hand to give it a shake.

Forsyth: Response

Kessler: Response

Greaves: Response

Promontory: Yes, congrats and keep up the good work Lieutenant.

Avander gave a nod, then turned to Wes and Jack.

Promontory: And I’ll see you gentlemen later. We have a lot to catch up on!
