((Grand Li Nalas Observation Dome, Celestial Cruises’ Prophet’s Gaze))
The next table was a familiar looking gaggle of Lieutenants: Nijal, Yinn, Richards, and Saa. The pair of equal heighted men, one more El-Aurian with a touch of scruffier facial hair, made their way to the final table that they’d be visiting prior to the final address to the crew.
Promontory: Josh, this looks like a table of folks you’re familiar with. Do you want to take this one?
Josh took in the different officers at the table, the ones that had narrowly escaped the aftermath of Frontier Day, thank their lucky stars, and the ship’s newest counselor. He’d assumed that Karen had noted his ‘aversion’ to telepaths in his file; but as the second officer, he likely didn’t have as much wiggle room to shy away from the individual he was now meeting for the first time. But there was no need to rush into the matter.
Herrick: Perhaps you’d like to start with the position first?
Promontory: Oh, right, let me do that first! (turning to the table) Lieutenant Saa, I’m so glad to see you again! I also understand you’ve been working overtime helping our crew with their counseling needs and helping build out that department. Thank you. We’d like to appoint you Assistant Chief Medical Officer of Mental Health.
As the requisition for additional counselors wasn't likely to result in any additional officers soon, he hoped the fledgling department would be able to rally various other resources besides counseling to help improve the mental health of the crew.
Saa: Response
Josh breathed a mental sigh of relief when the counselor chose to bow a polite thanks rather than shaking hands. Having not yet had any telepathic resistance training, Josh suspected that hadn’t gone unnoticed on her side but appreciated that it didn’t register on her face.
Herrick: Congratulations Lieutenant. ::nodding towards Sevantha, then turning to the table:: I’m glad we’re back together, reunited after our adventure through the looking glass. Lieutenant Yinn…
He watched as the now unjoined Bolian rose up, joining him and Promontory.
Herrick: You wore multiple personas, with props to match, during your party attendance which enabled you to use multiple avenues to ensure the safety of your team. Your ability to blend in and defend has earned you the Intelligence Star. (beat) It’s also not lost on any of us that you and Loq have been separated. While that may not be an injury in the traditional sense, you were essentially one combined individual that was split down the middle and, despite that separation, you performed admirably. We award you the Purple Heart for your injury in the line of duty and your continued service. ::extending his hand:: Congratulations.
Yinn: Response
Promontory: Congrats, Mr. Yinn! And of course Mr. Loq will be receiving the same.
As complicated as both the joining and separation had been, Avander was glad that it would be easier to refer to the beings now than when they had been entangled as one.
Yinn/Nijal/Richards: Response
After attaching the two ribbons to the rack, Josh moved his attention onto the man responsible for ship security.
Herrick: Mr. Richards, you’re up.
He watched as Anton exchanged places with the science officer.
Herrick: Mr. Richard, you too went undercover at the trading post, helping secure the necessary supplies for the Butler to operate in its… unique predicament. You thrived in unfamiliar territory, and as a result, we’re pleased to also award you the Intelligence Star. Then, in an already dangerous mission, you were injured in the line of duty when the detonator went off earlier than anticipated. (grinning) Every time I hear that story, the shard of glass gets bigger. With that, you’ve also earned the Purple Heart and I sincerely hope you don’t make getting caught in explosions a habit.
There were some hoots and hollers from the security officers dispersed throughout the room, as Josh extended his hand and shook the lieutenant’s. He pinned the same two ribbons that Yinn had received to the well-populated rack that Anton already wore.
Richards: Response
Promontory: Anton, keep up the good work!
He had read an interesting report of the man's parents over shore leave, but it seemed as if it had gotten sorted out. Richard was a good lad, if a bit of an odd duck, at times.
Richards/Nijal/Yinn: Response.
Herrick: And, last but certainly not least is our resident mission specialist, Lieutenant Zimedia Nijal. You were exemplary undercover, whether it be at the party either distracting the host or wrangling the team out of a showdown, to when we were ‘grilled’ in a turbolift and needing to mask our lifesigns. Creative problem solving is your strong suit, and that’s why it’s our privilege to award you both the Intelligence Star and Innovation Ribbon. ::reaching out to shake her hand:: Congratulations!
Nijal: Response
Promontory: Pretty soon we'll all be taking orders from you!
Nijal/Richards/Yinn: Response
As Josh finished applying the two ribbons to Zimedia’s uniform, he looked back at Avander, and did a double take at the tray he was holding. A few moments ago, the tray had been vacant, but four more mysteriously procured boxes now rested upon it and he was placing it down on the table.
Promontory: I understand Dr. Saa already has one of these, but I want to present the rest of you with Frontier Day Ribbons. And that includes you Josh!
Avander grinned, then stepped back, nodding to Josh. It only took a moment for the man now deft at handing awards to affix the four-coloured starred ribbon to each of their uniforms.
Herrick: Full of surprises, aren’t you commander. ::smiling:: Thank you, sir!
Nijal/Richards/Yinn: Response
