Thomas was with a team of people looking for insight into the Black Kris and the smuggling of the Ketra Omni. And it sounded like people were taking the smuggling seriously.

Rouiancet: Then these peoples are treating Black Kris as a valid threat.

Thomas: It sure sounds like it.

Colt: One quick question. Is the Black Kris benefiting from an early foothold in Gamma, and why is this so?

Toven: My estimation is they are taking advantage of the independent systems no longer under the yoke of the Dominion.

Rouiancet: (musing) I suppose that's only to be expected. It's what the UDP hoped to do, and it's not totally different from our presence here. (beat) After a fashion.

That would be unfortunate if they were trying to take advantage. At least Starfleet was trying to help people.

Thomas: Are the various governments trying to help each other?

Toven: (shaking his head; rubbing his temple) There is no coordinated response. Each system is tackling the epidemic in their own manner. Some more successfully than others.

Colt: So, it's safe to say that there is a bit of an isolationist policy when confronting the drug market.

Rouiancet: That is something we could help with.

Thomas stroked his chin as he listened to the conversation. He wondering how they could help.

Thomas: We’d need more information about the smuggling vessels though.

Toven: I was able to verify one thing. The Sweet Charlotte is a Wadi-class cargo vessel. Heavily modified, no doubt.

Rouiancet: Does it seem that there might be a connection there? That the Wadi might be involved with Black Kris, I mean?

Thomas raised an eyebrow. He didn’t think that the Wadi were typically a criminal enterprise. They just wanted to play their games.

Thomas: Have you been out there to talk to the Wadi?

Toven: I avoid the Wadi system. I have no skill in games of chance and strategy.

Colt: (after a slight smile) What of Mad Dog Ives? Our mission reports hinted that she may have high-roller contacts, is any of that true?

Rouiancet: Do you have the report excerpts?

Thomas leaned back in his chair, waiting as the people kept talking.

Toven: Responses

Rouiancet: (rubbing her chin) I don't know, but my sense was that Black Kris was not at all unified. Ives was willing to talk with us, at least, even though other Black Kris ships attacked.

That did seem true to Thomas. He had dealt with the medical aftermath of the attacks. There were still people recovering, including the Andorian Marine Ithri.

Thomas: That could be helpful to us finding them.

Colt/Toven: Responses

Rouiancet: Only that if Black Kris is divided in its loyalties and its goals, it will be easier to oppose what they're doing.

That was true, but Thomas was more focused on the medical aspects and the drug smuggling.

Thomas: It’s possible that the attack was a rogue captain. We don’t have that much intel on the Black Kris. At least, I don’t think so.

Colt/Toven: Responses

Rouiancet: I would certainly be interested in talking to Ives again, if the chance presents itself.

Vivien wasn’t too keen on that, but he would take whatever they could get.

Thomas: How talkative do you think she would be though?

Colt/Toven: Responses

The older Ensign shrugged. He hadn’t actually talked with Mad Dog Ives, so he had no real insight into her personality.

Thomas: If we think it’s worth it, we can try to find her again.

Colt/Toven/Rouiancet: Responses

Thomas: Well, hm…that I’m not sure of.

They were going to have to ask a lot of people a lot of questions. And they weren’t the types that were willing to answer a lot of questions, either.

Colt/Toven/Rouiancet: Responses
