(( Gymnasium, Deck 5, USS Octavia E Butler ))
Toxin couldn't be sure if Henri was there because of the holographic emitters installed in the gymnasium or if he was a figment of his imagination. However, he heard the doors slide open as he finished his last "assisted" rep, placed the barbell back onto the racks at the top of the bench, and sat up.
Kovacs: Um… hi, sir!
Arlill: Afternoon ensign (beat)
Toxin struggled with socializing with his subordinates. He figured this was yet another area where Nilsen outshone him, given Nilsen's effortless ability to connect with everyone.
Arlill: Eli (beat) how are you doing?
Toxin was aware of Eli and Lhandon's relationship and intended to avoid that topic, especially given his recent falling out with Lhandon.
Kovacs: I was thinking upper body today — it’s my first time here but seems straightforward. (beat) Did you need a spotter?
Well that answered that, Henri was only visible to him, for now at least, for as the question left Eli’s lips and the thought passed through his mind, the door to the changing room opened and out came a tall strapping young man with orange and bluish dyed hair.
Henri: He’s already got one ensign.
Toxin could quite literally feel his anxiety creeping up quickly.
Arlill: I guess I’m all set Eli, but thanks. (beat) ::a look of concern crossed his expression:: How’s Lhandon doing.
oO Ok, so much for avoiding that topic. Oo Toxin watched as Henri went over to the dumb bells and began some curls.
Kovacs: He’s… he’s doing (unsure) alright? (beat) Thank you for writing that letter for him at the trial, I know that he values you… and your relationship.
Arlill: ::a little quieter:: not that that has much value anymore. (beat)
Henri: What was that Toxin?
Toxin threw an annoyed look at Henri and quickly recovered.
Arlill: Not much value in that letter but hopefully it helped a little.
Henri continued his curls all the time smirking a little more than usually. Henri was interested in seeing how Toxin interacted with Eli, but he couldn’t resist the opportunity to meet Eli himself. He wondered what role Eli played in encouraging Lhandon to betray Toxin.
Kovacs: Response
Arlill: Well that’s good. (beat) I’ve not had the opportunity to catch up with him (beat) you know (beat) work and all. (beat) I heard he was back on board, so I assumed all that ends well… ::trailing off::
Kovacs: Response
Arlill: Umm, not really, Lhandon tried teaching me a few routines, but I’ve been working out for ye… (beat) a while.
Toxin didn't enjoy showing off his muscles; he worked out for personal satisfaction. He appreciated the sense of comfort that came with being toned, and he believed his fitness had helped him during the explosion on the anchorage. Even Lhandon wasn't fully aware of how much Toxin exercised. Rather than sticking to a fixed gym schedule, Toxin based his workouts on his mood and available time, dropping in for a set whenever it felt right.
Arlill: How’s the shore leave been for you so far?
Kovacs: Response
Arlill: I’ve not left the ship beyond visiting the Dyson Ring for work, otherwise I’ve kind of enjoyed the quietness of the ship with so many away.
Toxin glanced quickly over to Henri who’s smirk grew a little bit more, but his words remained silent…for now.
Toxin was ready for his next set, so he thought he'd make Henri a little jealous for once, since he wasn't, currently, residing in his head. He laid back on the bench and reached for the barbell.
Arlill: Actually, you mind spotting me?
Kovacs: Response
Arlill: ::beginning the set:: You had any opportunity to get over to DS14?
