(( Gymnasium, Deck 5, Octavia E Butler ))
Morro Caras came into the Gym a bit late. He had remembered that he was supposed to meet Lhandon here but had told him not to wait up since he would be late coming off of his shift. He figured Lhandon would have already started without him, but when he arrived he saw Lhandon digging so hard to the punching bag it made his own hands hurt by just watching. He didn’t expect this level of intensity. Something was wrong. Something had changed.
Nilsen: How the hell could he? ::punches bag:: I stood by him all this time. He’s just gone and thrown it all away!
Carsa saw some men he didn’t know here as well, obviously acquaintances of Lhandon’s. He was pretty sure they were both marines. They sure looked like it by the way they carried themselves. Ithri Sh'shelor had a similar bearing.
Caras: Do… do you need me to ,uh, alternate holding the bag?
It was a stupid question. The man holding the bag looked more than capable. He was slim and lithe but he looked like he had seen quite a bit of action. Morro noted the scarring on the left side of his face. Morro was trying to be helpful but he wasn't sure how to be in this instant.
Maxwell/Any: Response
Morro watched again as Lhandon pummeled the bag as a Klingon chef tenderizes Targ chops.
Nilsen: Toxin has! Everything we had build in ops. ::Punches bag:: Everything we had together ::punches again:: He’s just thrown it away ::Punches repeatedly::
Morro was shocked. Was there a falling out between Lhandon and Toxin? This seemed bad.
O’Reilly: I think I saw him in the hall just now.
The other man doing stretches had spoken up. Morro had just come in, but perhaps from another entrance? Had Toxin seen Lhandon in this state?
Maxwell/Any: Response
Caras: What does he think you did?
Caras delivered the question assuming Lhandon hadn’t done anything wrong. How could he? Caras saw him as a model officer. There was an explanation for all of this. Morro was sure of it.
Nilsen: How dare I have thoughts of my own? ::punches bag:: How dare I use my initiative? ::punches bag again::
Caras had felt this way before. When he was leaving for the Academy Z’Mat didn’t treat him with respect. It had been the first time that she had really disrespected him like that. She spat on his autonomy and the ability to make decisions for himself. To try and use the freedom that she had helped win him. Cars was getting angry for Nilsen. This seemed very very personal and Caras was determined to help his friend through the other side of it. If he could figure out how to do that.
Maxwell/Any: Response
Nilsen: And you know the worst part? ::punches bag:: Doing this right now ::punches bag:: to get it out of myself ::punches again:: I’m proving his damn point.
O’Reilly: Are you Lhando? Don’t you think he’s being a little stubborn from what I’ve heard?
Caras wasn’t sure about O’Reilly’s take, but maybe he was right. Was Arlill known to be incredibly stubborn? Was this two stubborn people just not able to work it out and causing a giant rift between them?
Caras: If not getting angry when you’re disrespected is wrong, then who really wants to be right?
Maxwell/Any: Response
O’Reilly: What happened between you two?
Caras: It’s hard to believe that he’d throw it all away. Did he dismiss you? Are you no longer Assistant Chief of ops?
O’Reilly and Caras were dealing out questions as fast as Nilsen was dealing out punches. None of them realizing that neither of their courses of action were coming close to a solution to the problem.
Nilsen/Maxwell/Any: Response
O’Reilly: You don’t have to share but…this seems so big. Never seen you like this.
Caras: Why does that seem worse than just flat out sending you to another duty post.
Nilsen/Maxwell/Any: Response
O’Reilly: What do you think caused it?
Caras: I couldn’t believe what he said about you on the last mission. I don’t think I would say that even if it were true for anyone.
Caras really did feel that way. When Toxin had said that Lhandon being the assistant chief of ops was just a casualty of circumstance, it had made him hurt for Lhandon.
O’Reilly/Nilsen/Maxwell/Any: Response
Caras: Maybe his new lover is jealous of you and wants you gone.
This was a shot in the dark, but Caras had decided to share his hunch with Nilsen after observing Arlill’s behavior during the last mission.
Nilsen: Response
Caras: I heard him say something about Henry under his breath during the last mission. It sounded… Intimate.
