OOC: I've never written a fight scene befor, especially bat'leth combat, but I'm doing my best. 😅 having fun with this one!

(( Klingon Arms - Helix Station ))

Ragh had picked a bat'leth, a bit shorter in length but lighter to handle. Not the typical choice but in the right situation it could easily help you get the first strike. Obviously he made it seem like he chose this one at random. He held it how he thought a human might hold it, really playing up the act.

Ragh: Something like this? I've watched a holoprogram or two on Klingon weaponry.

Intentionally dropping the bat'leth, Ragh hoped the image was painted of him the incompetent pretender. True the illusion will not last once the fight begins, but he always enjoyed a good laugh. He could see T'Korva silently judging him. oO Good. We will let the bat'leth do the speaking for us soon enough. Oo

T’Korva: Enough of the pleasantries. ::she moved into the sparring area::

He followed her, but assuming their respective positions. He watched her form as she did her warm-ups, trying to to study her form for any hints of technique. One thing was for sure, she handled the bat'leth well. Normally Ragh would be following suit, but the time to give up his act was not at hand. He simply stood with blade in hand.

Ragh: Let's see if the studying paid off.

She swept low with a spin, sand flying towards Ragh, before spinning again and bringing he down bat'leth towards his torso.

And Ragh, finally dropping the act, brought his bat'leth up in one fluid motion to block hers at the last second, pushing back against hers. They were locked in place.

Ragh: Suvbe'chugh SuvwI' tlhuHbe' SuvwI'. (If a warrior does not fight, he does not breathe.)

With a smile upon his face, Ragh reflected on these words. When was the last time he was able to spar with a true opponent! Sure, he practiced on the holodeck from time to time but there was nothing like fighting another Klingon.

T’Korva: ::frozen in their position:: Admirable ensign, your deception was, a good attempt.

Ah, he knew his gamble paid off! It was not his usual tactics to deceive, but she drew the first sleight, perceived or otherwise.

She pushed him away with the back of her batleth, quickly turning into a downward strike. She was faster than Ragh would have expected, and with an unpredictably that was hard to counter. He barely brought his own up to deflect her attack, parrying to the left. Spinning on his heel, he hit her with an elbow, before stepping back and pushing his bat'leth sideways towards her to gain some space. He was fighting defensively and he knew he had to get the upper hand.

Ragh: I'm impressed. Commander, truly!

He jumped back, feigned a lunge, but stayed low sweeping his bat'leth at her legs. It was a risky maneuver as he left himself open more than he'd like, but he had to get the advantage.

T'Korva: Response
