Lhandon didn't have words for the emotions he was feeling in that moment as he pressed the door chime to Rouiancet's Ready Room. Part of it was anger; how dare Tox go and not bring him along for the ride? They were meant to be ride or die.
Part of it was confusion, which also looped back to: how dare Tox go and not bring him along for the ride? They were meant to be ride or die.
And part of it was almost laughter; how dare Tox go and not bring him along for the ride? They were meant to be ride or die.
He couldn't believe it himself; this had to be a prank, this had to be some kind of joke that Tox was finally getting Lhandon back for something that he had done when he was an ensign, and they both were roommates.
Lhandon gave the PADD with the letter to Rouiancet, the one where Tox told him to stay put, to work on the Zet, to try and bring peace, and to succeed him in his role. He explained how he had found the letter and the time delay, giving Rouiancet all the information he had before he concluded simply with,
Nilsen: So…he’s just gone!?
It was a plea for a loophole, as well as a question and an observation that they both knew the answer to. He found that walking around while thinking helped him.
Rouiancet: Response
Lhandon nodded, just that little nod he did when he understood what was being said, when his mind had processed.
Nilsen: And this isn't like a trick or a prank or anything for my birthday?
Rouiancet: Response
He then stopped pacing, and unlike before, when previously he had tried to run away from destiny, he instead sat down with certainty
Nilsen: Okay, okay.
Lhandon nodded one more time.
Nilsen: Where do we begin?
