Waman had met some fine new folks at Forzot’s Exotic Beasts, and he was happy to enjoy his new friends’ company. Getting to know new people was half the fun of shore leave.
Shyvo: S-sir. E-erm… Lieutenant, may I-I ask a question?
Catona: Ask away!
Shyvo: D-did you have reason to…erm…to suspect the owner of w-wrong doing…
Oh. They were still concerned about the incident in the pet shop.
Halloway: or what exactly happened in there, lieutenant…..
Catona: Well, he started choking me! I’d say that’s some wrong doing, wouldn’t you?
Shyvo: Sorry, s-sorry, sir. I d-didn’t finish. I meant to say: Did you have reason to…erm…to suspect the o-owner of wrongdoing… and is the o-owner breaking any l-local laws?
Halloway: You're doing fine, Shyvo.
Waman raised an eyebrow. Was this an interrogation? He thought it was a friendly conversation about being choked by a turtle.
Catona: Well, I don’t know about local laws, but Glubs are hard to tranquilize without Dhusnid spines … and those are certainly illegal in Federation space.
Shyvo: Response
Halloway: I see, did you say it in a way that might be seen as an accusation of some kind?
Shyvo: Response
Catona: I certainly didn’t say anything that justified being choked!
Halloway: I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this, sir. :: Beat. :: I'm security, it's kinda my job to ask questions.
Waman straightened and cleared his throat.
Catona: Why yes, of course. :: scratches the back of his head and looks away :: I may have asked what he thought gave him the right to purchase and use something so dangerous.
Shyvo: Response
Catona: It was simple curiosity, nothing more. We don’t hold any legal authority as far as I know. But surely a pet store owner must know the harvest of Dhusnid spines is dangerous and problematic.
Shyvo/Halloway: Response
It came as a bit of a shock to him since this Shyvo was involved in diplomacy. But Waman suspected not everyone was as interested in alien poisons as he was.
Catona: They’ve been used in more than one high-profile assassination attempt in the quadrant in the last few years. :: holding his hands up :: Now I’m not saying our friendly Cheyd had anything to do with that, but it does make one wonder.
