Maxwell: Bit ae something tae stick in your new quarters.

Rouiancet: Or your ready room. Let the new crew know you have a softer side. (beat; raising an eyebrow at Max) Or that you're friends with rough-and-ready marine officers, who wouldn't hesitate to step in and toss a misbehaving lieutenant out an airlock.

Etan: Oh, definitely my ready room. :: he responded with a wink.::

Sherlock: It'll show your crew just how nice you can be.

Max smirked at Sherlock's comment and grin.
He knew some captains were feared by their crews, and whilst on one level it undoubtedly worked, Max couldn't help feel it was also detrimental. Many missions or incidents during his time on 118 and the Narendra wouldn't have ended so well had Sal been a feared captain instead of an open one.
He supposed in the end it depended entirely upon the “individual” crews and how they worked best with their CO.
Max glanced to his side as Herrick suddenly spoke up.

Herrick: Errr… Commander?

Herrick: I… just want to say thank you for everything. While it won’t be the same here without you, those on the moo-moo are privileged to have you and I’m sure some plucky ensign’s going to get you in trouble with humanoid resources. (beat) And… I have something for you… a legacy of sorts. oO I hope this is some evidence as to how much your guidance meant to me. Oo

Max snorted a laugh under his breath at the use of the MooMoo name.

Rouiancet: Well, we shouldn't delay you any further. Do you need help with anything?

Etan: Walk with the Prophets, all of you.

Herrick: (nodding) 'Til we meet again sir.

Sherlock: ::adding to Herrick:: Sooner rather than later, yeah?

Rouiancet/Any: Responses

There was a moment of silence as the Oumuamua's new commanding officer made his way over to, and onto the transporter pad. Those assembled stood watching, many possibly feeling that because of the distance of duty this could very well be the last time they would ever see him in person.

Etan: ::nodding to the transporter chief:: Energise.

Max brought his heels together, stiffening to attention and bringing his right hand up into a crisp salute as the transporter beam swallowed the form of their former XO within its familiar glow.
Holding fast until the beam faded, Max swiftly brought his hand back to his side before excusing himself and heading for his quarters.

End Scene for Max
