((Yinn’s Quarters, Deck 6, USS Octavia E. Butler))
Yinn and Zarah had a mission, and it was one they had to do in secret so that the object of that mission didn’t find out. The mission was to prank the new Director of Intelligence, and as Zarah knew would happen, Yinn had a fantastic idea. If they could change the preferences of the new DOI, then they could have all the replicators give her one thing and one thing only - a very smelly Bolian dish called zherlac. It was perfect! The question was, how could they access the system to do it?
Johnson: I don’t have the privileges to make that kind of change.
She paused, then added.
Johnson: But my mom does.
Yinn: But that means you could get her in trouble.
Yinn rubbed her ridge, which Zarah took to mean she was nervous or uncertain about it. Frankly, she wasn’t too keen to involve her mom, partially because Yinn was right, she could get into trouble . The other reason was because she didn’t want her mom to know, even if she would most likely laugh alongside her daughter, yet also prevent her from doing anything.
Yinn: Maybe if there's some way to use her access without implicating her... But I don't feel comfortable risking her being held responsible for our actions. And neither should you!
Zarahh lifted her hands, surprised at the woman’s vehemence.
Johnson: Geez, Yinn, chill. I’m not going to do that. She has the access, but yeah, I don’t like the idea of getting her into trouble either.
Yinn: What about this... what if we could get someone else's access. Someone else we wanted to play a prank on?
Zarah’s eyes brightened at the idea. Not only would they pull off their prank, they’d get a two for one deal! That was even better!
Johnson: Good idea! But how?
Yinn: There's so much chaos on the ship with the refugees everywhere, it shouldn't be that hard to "accidentally" overhear someone's access codes.
She had a point, and Zarah knew if she just thought hard enough, she’d probably be able to figure something out. Tapping her finger upon her chin, she tried to come up with some names.
Johnson: Got any suggestions?
Yinn: Wauhk would be pretty funny, as it'd never occur to her in a million years to do something like this. And no one would seriously think she'd done it, but it also wouldn't come back to us. Or Fer'at. He's a big believer in the whole "Vulcans don't lie" thing, so it'd be pretty funny watching him defend himself.
Zarah didn’t really know Wauhk very well, had just seen the Brikar around from time to time, and the same could be said for Fer’at. Likely neither would look kindly upon the scheme the two were currently in the middle of doing.
Johnson: Either of them sounds good, but I can’t help but think Fer’at, as a Vulcan, might be too careful to overhear.
Yinn: Response
Johnson: Oh! What about this.
Zarah clapped her hands together and scooted to the edge of her seat, leaning closer to her friend as she continued their conspiracy.
Johnson: Both of them are science officers. There’s at least one replicator in the science department, right? Usually all departments had at least one, sometimes to replicate tools, but also to provide easy access for drinks and refreshments for officers working long hours. They weren’t *all* over the departments, but usually there was at least one outside of the individual office of high ranking officers for convenience sake.
Yinn: Response
Johnson: Do F’erat and Whauk use it regularly?
Yinn: Response
Good, that made their lives just a little bit easier. Smiling, Zarah nodded and leaned back on the couch.
Johnson: It could be easy to mess with one replicator enough to get the access codes for someone. Once we do that, we can find a way to hack in and change Walker’s preferences.
Yinn: Response
