((Operations Centre, Deck 6, U.S.S. Octavia E. Butler.))

Kimonzi was monitoring the progress of their little program. The problem was…she’d had faster downloads when she was Jadron and was attempting to download data from abroad to help with his studies.

Lahl: If it’s baking, we’re going to be here a while.

Forsyth: Maybe we should use a different metaphor, it's making me want some cookies now.

That was fair, but a lot of Lahl’s metaphors involved intricate knowledge of Trill history.

Arlill/O’Reilly: Response

Forsyth: How long until it's ready, Lahl?

Lahl: I’m going to be honest with all of you here, it’s going to take a few hours at this point.

Which was honestly embarrassing. She was usually better at programming than this. And Commander Arlill was good at this too.

Arlill/O’Reilly: Response

Forsyth: Right, anyway to speed it up?

Lahl: Well, the problem is that we have too many fish trying to get through a river. We need there to be less fish…

Kimonzi had no idea how they were going to get rid of the “fish” though, when the biggest fish actually controlled the river. How badly had she tortured this poor metaphor?

Arlill/O’Reilly: Response

Forsyth: Huh, normally the computer is fairly fast with tasks like these?

Lahl: Yeah, our computer cores are pretty good. We usually have no problem running all sorts of programs.

This included multiple holodecks, the holograms in the spa, and all of the replicators. This probe was using a lot of processing power…

Arlill/O’Reilly: Response

Forsyth: You don't think the Continuance is behind our slow system, sir?

Lahl: I’m going to be honest, I think our friend has put too many fish in our river.

Arlill/O’Reilly: Response

That was the 60,000 latinum bar question, wasn’t it? How could they get everything out of the way and let their computer work like normal again? Kimonzi scratched at her spots there.

Lahl: Alright, so…if there’s a blockage in a river, what can we do if we can’t get fish out of the river?

Arlill/O’Reilly/Forsyth: Response

Lahl snapped her fingers and pointed at the rest of her team.

Lahl: Precisely! We make another stream.

Arlill/O’Reilly/Forsyth: Response

Lahl: Ok, that is a good question, how do we create a new stream…we don’t have another computer core hiding somewhere do we?

Arlill/O’Reilly/Forsyth: Response
