The Commander had been promoted, the Commodore had seen herself out, and now the Captains were indulging in a little celebratory offering.
Kruwii: All in all, a good meeting of the Command Officers Promotion Association!
Rhyl: Hip, Hip… Hooray.
The Rigelian joined in the cheers with the others.
Fletcher: Well done, and bottoms up.
Kruwii: My bottom’s entirely too visible, I need a top-off.
He passed his empty glass over for a refill.
Rhys: Have you got your next orders yet… Captain?
Rouiancet: Not yet, but I'm sure it'll be soon.

Rhys: Those number crunchers back at HQ (beat) sometimes I think they’re just making it up as they go along. I’ve been hearing rumours about the Zet starting to procure larger amounts of weapons.
Jnaxlo was glad his assigned region was a sufficient distance from the chunk of space of the Zet and the UDP—he’d take the strange anomalies any day over working with them.
Rouiancet: (sighing) That tracks, unfortunately.
T’Valek: It has been (beat) reassuring to have more ships around lately (beat) although I’m sure we could have handled whatever came our way.
Kruwii: I’m just glad this station is finally built. A real permanent presence for the Federation in the quadrant—it shows we’re not going anywhere. (beat) Rhys, have you heard anything more on that Undular affair?
Rhys: (shaking his head) I haven’t been able to substantiate anything yet… they mentioned that Starfleet Intelligence would ‘look into it’. I’ll be heading on a diplomatic run myself with a representative from New Bajor to establish another trade route. (motioning his glass to Lia) Kudos to your team for setting up one with the I-Kiyoan.
Rouiancet: (slight shrug) If our experience is any indicator, few on the ring will be displeased to see more Starfleet personnel in the future.
T’Valek: Yes, it seems the ‘Oumuamua crew and now the Butler crew have made a name for themselves (beat) very intriguing.
Fletcher: Come on now, enough of this. We can talk shop some other time. For now, let’s focus on the good. I propose a toast.
While another round of drinks were prepared, Jnaxlo leaned over to their newest member conspiratorially.
Kruwii: (whispering) After this I’ll have to tell you about the Captain’s Table.

Kruwii: I can drink to that!
