The additional scans had given them more information, but no solutions to disentangling the two crewmembers who had become one-in-two-bodies.

Brzezinski: I mean, this indicates everything is healthy, relatively speaking. Maybe it’s best to leave well enough alone?

The only solutions that had been proposed were fairly drastic and could easily lead to brain-death for one or both of the subjects. But other than having their conscious merged, they were healthy and Rivka was starting to lean against any sudden moves.

Fer’at: It is your choice.

Yinn: I—

Loq: I don't think I'm ready. We just don't have enough information.

Brzezinski: I think that’s the smart move. We don’t have anything indicating that the situation is being exacerbated the longer it goes on and if you’re in some sort of statis point, we can take the time to really understand your condition before we try any experimental surgery or neurochemical washes.

Toz: I agree. After all, Brzezinski knows best.

Fer’at: I can understand any reticence you might have.  Perhaps it would be best to think over this before you make a decision.

Toz: Perhaps they could ponder on the decision over a couple of days. It’s a tough decision to make.

Brzezinski: And that could give us time to run some experiments and gather more data. I want to see how those leaves react to regular transporter use.

Fer’at: Perhaps the best choice is to simply run all the tests we can and take time to go over the results.  A decision about the wash should not be made quickly or taken lightly.

Once again, Rivka found herself agreeing with the Vulcan. Or rather, the Vulcan was agreeing with her, really. Yinn plus also seemed on board.

Yinn: Agreed. Apart from my personal situation, this is a scientific phenomena with astounding implications. It would be criminal to simply... switch things off and on again, as you said... without taking the chance to study the effects.

Rivka shot a pair of fingers towards Yinn to indicate “this chick gets it!”

Toz: We’re discussing this situation as if it’s solvable. It might not be. Could be the two of you will be entwined… for a long time.

Rivka nodded. If this was a permanent new arrangement, the case study would make a splash in the scientific journals. Heck, even if it was only semi-permanent, the case could launch a promising focus of research for years to come.

Brzezinski: (brightly) Either way, we’ll make the best of the situation!

Loq: I have been studying the human practice of yoga with Nurse Miash. Perhaps she can guide me through physical therapy until I can better control both bodies independently. As soon as I'm able, I'm eager to study... well, myself. And I would still like to help with the refugee system and negotiations with the UDP. This is a crucial time for the Diplomatic Corps, and I don't want to be derelict in my duties there.

Fer'at: Your dedication is commendable.  However, it would be prudent to have you under continuous monitoring.

Brzezinski: Ooo! I have new neocortical monitoring systems that should be relatively comfortable to wear and will continually collect vital brain data!

Toz: So we let Loq carry on while we -rather, Brzezinski, figures it out. She’s the brain expert.

Rivka nodded. She was, in fact, the expert. Although she worried that whatever was going on might actually be beyond physical “brains.” Oh well, time to expand one’s horizons!

Fer’at: This is a matter for more than just Brzezinski.  I, too, will continue to work on the matter.

Rivka looked at the Vulcan askance. As long as he didn’t rain on her parade too much, she supposed another set of eyes couldn’t hurt.

Loqinn/Toz: Possible response

Brzezinski: I’ll go get those new scanners!

Rivka headed for the doors.

Brzezinski: Don’t go anywhere—I mean you two (pointed at the bodies that shared a consciousness) I’ll be right back!

Fer’at: We’ll keep you informed, Doctor.

When she got to the corridor, she began to sprint. This would be fun!
