Taking the ships XO back to the hidden spot where she had planted both a flower and a picture of her Grandfather, Milly told his story as best she could. Switching tracks, Milly turned the conversation through a sudden u-turn.

Milly: What about your family, Mr. Etan?

Mr Etan blinked at her.

Etan: It’s just me and my parents. :: beat :: I’m an only child.

Milly smiled up at him.

Being an only child herself, Milly understood the absence of siblings to play and grow up with. But she had lots of cousins, and also made friends easily.

Milly: Where are they now?

Etan: They’re back in the Alpha Quadrant. :: beat :: They live on Prophet’s Landing..

Milly bounced lightly on her toes again. She had seen pictures of Prophet's Landing, and huge areas of it looked lovely. Maybe she would go there one day?

Milly: Is it nice where you grew up?

Etan: I grew up on a farm in Muscilla Province. :: beat :: My parents were farmers and they had a lot of land. I used to spend a lot of time in the hills around the homestead. Mostly reading books about history.

That sounded lovely and reminded Milly of being at home in Scotland. Her family had a big house not far from town, but still far enough away that the rolling hills, woods, streams and fields were one gargantuan playground for an adventurous child. Sometimes Milly would be found by her Aunt Rosetta, sat up a tree reading a book.

Milly: Do you miss it?

Milly missed her Grandmama's house, and her Aunt Rosetta. She also missed her Uncle Henry who still lived on SB118. But there was nowhere else she would rather be than zooming across the galaxy with her father. Although she did wish that his job wasn't so dangerous at times.

Etan: response

Milly: Do you get to go home very often? It must be hard being so far away.

That was something else Milly could understand. First with her move from Earth to Starbase 118, then a much smaller move from her home into Mr Ishreth's home. And then a brief move to one ship, before then moving onto this one. She was a long way from home for a twelve year-old.

Etan: response

She nodded happily, her much softer accent unconsciously broadening for a moment.

Milly: I'm back with my Da. ::A mischeavous smile not unlike her fathers appeared.:: He gets intae way too much bother when I'm no around tae look after him.
