((Operations Center - Lower Level, Deck 7, USS Octavia E Butler))

The past few weeks have been one of the weirder times in Lhandon’s life. The mission to find out the truth behind the King's Path had taken a dark turn when he and his party were taken as slaves, a situation he would prefer not to repeat.

Then when he got back, he was involved in diplomatic talks, followed by taking the guest from the UDP in the OC to scrum it with the Ops crew, and while there was a big part of him that yearned to be stuck in with the SARs team, he was glad to be in a situation where he life was no long in danger, even if the two events did feel like whiplash

But the strangest part of all of this was his relationship with Toxin, Toxin had been up to his eyes in PADDwork for the past week or so and the man he came to call a brother was distant from him. He wasn’t sure why, or what words to use, but something wasn’t right, and Arlill's recent medical emergency didn't help matters either.

Perhaps they just needed time.

Lhandon ended up exploring other parts of his life. He had promised Eli that he would show him the hilariously bad Knights of the Upper Realm holodeck program at some point, and he was grateful that he could build that relationship. He was excited to see where this would lead

As he was enjoying the mundanity of daily reports, operations schedules, and shift rotas, his mind would sometimes drift from work to that of Eli. He’d then be snapped right back to reality, a lot of random duties stemmed from suddenly being given the role of Assistant Chief of Ops. It was a nice change of pace from the last mission of becoming a slave, and things were going smoothly.

Nilsen: Computer, display all personnel who have not yet been assigned to a duty roaster

While the computer complied, several crew names were blanked out and redacted. He audibly said, "Huh," and his brow furrowed. This wasn't the first time the computer had withheld information from him.

Nilsen: computer, display those names that are blanked out.

Computer: No

The computer was being short with him…again. He sighed.

Nilsen: Why?

Computer: You do not have security clearance to view that information.

He rolled his eyes. This was not the first time that he hadn't had clearance. Last week, the door to his quarters had required him to prove who he was, and just the previous day, he had to ask an ensign to use her authorization codes to perform a level 1 diagnostic of the circuits on deck 7.

Nilsen: Why do I not have clearance?

Computer: Unable to answer that query. See Lt Commander Avander Promontory for all enquiries related to security clearance.

Nilsen: Why not Sherlock?

He muttered out loud.

Computer: Sherlock, also known as Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character written by…

Lhandon interrupted.

Nilsen: Computer stop.

He leant back on his seat and the computer was of a mind to finish its thoughts

Computer: A fictional character cannot give you security clearance, if you believe this is the case it is recommended that you seek mental health support from the counselling department, would you like them to be alerted?

He remembered the last time this happened. He spoke with a smile, one that was born of sarcasm and frustration.

Nilsen: I am perfectly fine. Thank you.

The computer beeped off and he wondered, it did suggest that Promontory was the one giving the clearances so…maybe he could fix it.

A logical thought process

Nilsen: Computer, locate Commander Avander Promontory.

A logical thought process that the computer did not seem to follow

Computer: Lt Commander Promontory’s location is classified.

Nilsen: :::sigh:::Let me guess, is he a fictional character?

Computer: No, Lt Commander Promontory is a real person. You appear to be having difficulty distinguishing between real and fantasy; Here are resources on various mental health conditions including…

Lhandon's eyes reached the ceiling. o0 give me strength 0o

Nilsen: Computer, Stop

He had found that the stop command would often shut the incessant thing up.Much like a 21 century Alexa. He wondered which celestial entity he had annoyed to deserve this, surely not the prophet? It would be fair to assume that he was at least in favour with them after Alpha Brenkelvi II. He picked up his PADD and wrote fix computer issue on his to do list.

He then wondered for a second and dared to ask the computer for something.

Nilsen: Computer, locate Commander Promontory.

Computer: Commander Promontory's location is currently classified.

Nilsen: o0 Oh for heaven's sake 0o Is Commander Promontory aboard this ship?

Computer: Affirmative.

Right, that was something. Sometimes, just going direct is the best option.

Nilsen: =/\= Nilsen to Promontory =/\=

Promontory: =/\= Promontory here. What can I do for you? =/\=

Nilsen: =/\= I'm having some issues with my computer access and it's getting in the way of my job. When you get a moment, can you check my file and make sure everything checks out. =/\=

Promontory: =/\= Huh. (beat) I have your file right here. (beat) A quick perusal doesn’t raise any flags on my end. Maybe try logging out and back in again? If that doesn’t work, I’m happy to sit down with you and take a closer look. =/\=

Nilsen: =/\= Will do…just one thing, where is your office?. The computer won't tell me ::laughs:: apparently your exact location is classified as well. =/\=

((Intelligence Suite, Deck [REDACTED], USS Octavia E Butler))

Avander laughed at that. Starfleet Intelligence seemed to be getting a little more paranoid with this latest model of ship and it did lead to curious consequences.

Promontory: =/\= Add it to the Lower Deck Bingo. If they can find the Intelligence Suite, I’ll grant them clearance to know where it is. (beat) It’ll be like a test. (beat) Tell you what, I’ll download your file and meet you on Deck 2 and get you into the Senior Officers’ Mess. We can visit there. =/\=

Maybe the opportunity to try out the senior officer replicator codes would make up for not telling the kid where the intelligence offices were.

Nilsen: =/\= Add it to what bingo sir? I have noooo idea what you’re on about. I'm on my way. =/\=

Avander downloaded the file to a PADD and was about to leave his office when a name on the screen jumped out at him. Commander Althea Nilsen. It echoed around in his head–something secret? No, not secret, classified. Classified from his time as a temporal agent!

((Flashback 6 months ago relative personal timeline; 30 years ago absolute time))

((Stardate 237003.21 - Computer Core Room, USS St Albans))

Avander checked his chronometer. He was in the past. Again. Fortunately, the mission should be a fairly straightforward one. The St. Albans was about to perform computer-assisted warp-bubble modifications. It was a good idea and history suggested a successful test. However, Temporal Services had detected a slight aberration, a quantum fissure that could result in a pantemporal Schrodinger's Collapse that could wipe the Federation from existence. Avander’s task was to ensure the variable computational matrix did not exceed .02 microns. The boys and gals in the Temporal Sciences Department had assured him that if he did that, the timeline would remain intact.

He gave his black and blue era-appropriate uniform a tug and stepped into the computer core room.
