Ensign Ragh- Fresh Meat

Doctor Ragh was finally in his element. In the Medical Department, doing doctor things. Truly what he signed up for. He knew it was a matter of time before he was sent again on some mission that was way out of his depths, so he was looking to make the most of this time. He noticed a new face standing at alert by a biobed, with the occasional glance around. The man spoke to the room:

Peters: Lieutenant Commander Cadfael Peters reporting for onboarding physical.

Ragh approached the man.

Ragh: Oh? I hope you weren't waiting long. I'm Doctor Ragh and I'd be happy to perform your physical. I don't think we've met-

Peters: I just transferred in from DS 14, actually. Stopped by the BC to get another mug on my way here. ( He presented an iso chip to the officer.) Can I interest either of you in a fresh copy of my medical record, just in case LCARS hasn’t caught up yet?

Ragh took the chip in his hand, a bit caught of guard. The young man was very prepared it seemed. The doctor could appreciate that.

Ragh: Thank you, but I'm sure we have your up to date medical records. (Pauses, checking his PADD) So on boarding physical. Anything I should know before we start?

Peters: No active complaints. No unexplained dizziness, hallucinations, or sudden desire to rewire anything that isn’t mine. And in my defense, I am mostly all original components.

The biobed began to do it's thing, and Ragh noticed the implants that were in both of the man's ears. He would have to ask him about that.

Peters: If you find any duct tape in there, I can assure you it was structural.

Ragh raised his eyebrow. He couldn't tell if the man's attempts at humor were from nerves or just his regular personality. Before long, the scan was over.

Ragh: The scan is complete, feel free to sit up. (Reading the monitor) Everything seems.. okay. How are your implants treating you? How long have you had them?

He gave Peters a moment to answer. Ragh was finally feeling like it was getting easier to be conversational in a non-Klingon way. He was able to 'soften his edges' so to speak.

Peters: Response 

Ragh: Oh, that's good to hear.

The pun, unintentional, went over Ragh's head.

Ragh gestures to the man to stand up. 

Ragh: What were you doing on DS14?

Peters: Response
