(( Operations Center, Lower Level, Deck 7, Octavia E. Butler. ))

Lahl: That is correct…it does appear similar to what was reported from Deep Space 9 when their mirror universe counterparts entered the station.

Toxin visibly shuttered at the thought of parallel universes. Time travel had been enough for him, especially after 3 years of waiting for his crew to return, but this, this was another element he didn’t really want to deal with.

Forsyth: Do they say any in the reports about how they crossover to ours?

Lahl: If I remember correctly, they used transporters to go between. But that obviously won’t work for us.

Nis: No, but if it’s anything like a time crystal, it needs to have -some- sort of reactant or high energy load to set it off.

Toxin silently observed his team pulling together some very solid strategies, he wasn’t about to stop this flow of ideas.

Forsyth: That could work, maybe something similar to my control EMP pulse.

Lahl: Ooh, that is a good idea. I hadn’t thought of using the deflector.

Nis: We’ll need to figure out the type and source of the potential energy

Arlill: ::looking at Alex:: What type of energy would we need?

Forsyth: Maybe we should look at what kind of energy shouldn’t be in the wormhole and see if there's something there we could use to open it?

oO Solid idea! Need to remember to add a commendation to their record for thinking outside the box. Oo

Lahl: I do wonder if the deflector would be able to handle the power necessary to do that?

Arlill: The upgraded deflector dish should be able handle increased loads, but there’s always the possibility of overloading it and limping back to Starbase 14 when we return.

Forsyth: What about a subspace tensor matrix? Something similar was used by a Doctor, Lenara Kahn, to create an artificial wormhole using magneton particles?

oO Ok, now she’s just showing off. Oo

Nis: It has potential.

Arlill: Agreed.

Lahl: Response

Forsyth: It works for a short time. The shields of a probe interacted with the tetryon field and caused it to become unstable, producing a massive graviton shock wave.

Nis: Will that… blow us all up?

It was a legitimate concern, one Toxin shared with the good doctor.

Arlill: ::looking at Jania:: Well we can’t guarantee it won’t, but so might any of the options we’ve suggestion so far.

Lahl: Response

Forsyth: If we could work out the shield's harmonic to work with the tetryon field, then we might be able to use it.

Arlill: Yes! If we could match the harmonics, we might be able to absorb any excess energy rather than have it destroy us. But that’s a big “if”.

Lahl: Response

Nis: We also need to consider--there’s a planet right next to us. How can we do this without sucking them into a wormhole?

Arlill: A valid point. (beat) ::caressing his beard:: We would need to control the aperture and limit it to what we need to pass through and no bigger. Of course, that would also require some expert piloting to avoid contact with the edge of the event horizon where the gravimetric forces would be greatest. (beat) It would tare us apart otherwise.

Forsyth/Lahl: Response

The alternate Lhandon may have been just a counselor, but his time aboard the enemy ship could provide crucial information about the variables needed to accomplish this task.

Nis: There’s really another Lhandon on the ship?

Arlill: Yeah (beat) And I thought one was eno… ::stopping abruptly::

In that moment he was trying to use humor to alleviate the tensions, but then he also remembered he was the senior officer here and commander of this team, much less first officer for the ship currently—he needed to improve his sense of humor and be a leader, not a jester.

Forsyth/Lahl: Response

Nis: Does he remember anything about being captured? If this is some sort of regular thing these ‘collectors’ do, there must already be some sort of tech that allows them to open the wormhole.

Arlill: Unfortunately I think Alt Miash would know more about this, but she hasn’t woken up yet.

For a moment Toxin missed their Miash. She’d returned to Earth a few months ago to finish her doctorate and hopefully return to the OEB. Toxin didn’t hold out hope, she would be a doctor at that point, and after Frontier Day, they were a much sought after commodity.

Forsyth/Lahl: Response

Nis: :: whispering :: So this second Lhandon … is he single?

Toxin made it a point not to listen in on private conversations, but Nilsen’s hobby of gossip collection had influence Toxin a little over the years and he found it hard not to pick up on the conversation. He laughed out loud a little.

Arlill: I heard he’s married I think. (beat) Sorry, didn’t mean to ease drop.

Forsyth/Lahl: Response

Refocusing on the task at hand, they had a number of solutions but no solid answers. Would they overload their deflector dish, would they be torn apart by gravimetric shear, do they have the right pilot on board to accomplish this feat.

That was the question, the question of the century, at least for Lhandon and Toxin, who was the better pilot. He wasn’t going to inflate his ego and lay claim to this title if he, deep down, knew that Lhandon would be the better option.

Arlill: If we do pull this off, it’s going to take our best pilot at the helm.

Nis/Forsyth/Lahl: Response

Arlill: ::laughing out loud:: No, while I’d love to hold the title of best pilot on board, I think our Nilsen might be the best option.

That was difficult for Toxin to admit—maybe it was easier to do here and now while Lhandon was elsewhere and not in direct earshot.

Nis/Forsyth/Lahl: Response

Arlill: We’ll need to build a model to test our theory before we put this into practice. ::looking at Alex and Lahl:: what do we need to build the test?

Nis/Forsyth/Lahl: Response
