Caras: Maybe his new lover is jealous of you and wants you gone.

This was a shot in the dark, but Caras had decided to share his hunch with Nilsen after observing Arlill’s behavior during the last mission.

Nilsen: What?

Caras: I heard him say something about Henry under his breath during the last mission. It sounded… Intimate.

Nilsen: The guy down in waste processing? Dyed hair? The guy we both met here?

Caras wasn’t sure what kind of relationship they had. He was pretty decent at reading people’s body language and tone. But if it wasn’t lovers he wasn’t sure what else it could be.

O’Reilly: I’ve never met him.

Over Lhandon’s shoulder Morro saw someone practically fall down the climbing wall. oOWhat a bold move! She must be a pro.Oo Morro thought to himself.

It was Doctor Nis. She landed on her feet and recovered. Caras was glad to see there was someone else who enjoyed rappelling as much as he did

Nis: Uh … hi everyone! :: gulping::  Yeah, we didn’t hear any of that. Not sure what y’all are talking about at all. :: Scratching her neck :: Okay, well we’re done on the wall for the day. Have a nice train-- ::bites her tongue to avoid saying “have a nice training session” :: Yup.

Caras nodded as Doctor Nis joined them, he must have heard from up on high, they were being a little loud.

Nilsen: Where’d you come from? ::beat:: No…no…stick around doc. ::To Caras:: What you mean lover? Like he’s saying something to Arlill? ::Beat:: Nah…he would have…Arlill would have told me he’s dating? Right?

Caras shrugged, it was honestly his best guess. Arlill seemed like a very private person. It was clear Lieutenant Arlill had done his best to avoid having to share any personal information when they were all hallucinating on the last mission.

Nis: Dating, or, you know, maybe hallucinating a little.

Hallucinating? Maybe that was it. Maybe Toxin was seeing Henry when they were in engineering on the Dow, like Morro had seen his sister. But that still brought up the question of why he would see Henry to begin with if it wasn’t important.

Maxwell: Show me somebody aboard who hasnae seen weird things recently.

O’Reilly: We all felt pretty off on that mission big guy.

Morro raised an eyebrow at the nickname “big guy” when there were two other men here that were about 40kg heavier. Caras didn’t know Maxwell, but if he was the “big guy” maybe he had earned it another way.

Caras: That’s true, I did specifically hear him say “Henry” when we were engineering. I believe his words were along the lines of “still there Henry”. Not sure what it meant. But I said a handful of things to my hallucination as well.

Nis: He’s been acting a bit strange since the Dow incident. He visited medical for a follow-up after the Dow incident, and he wasn’t weird but . . . something was off. We don’t know. We’re missing some piece of the puzzle, that’s all we know.

Caras was glad to know he wasn’t the only one who had his psyche upset by the incident with the hallucinations, but this seemed to be more serious.

Nilsen: We’re meant to be bros right? Me and Arlill. ::Beat:: How could I have missed that? No wonder he was slipping away all the time

Nilsen: But if this Henry is twisting things? ::: Sizing up the bag:: I’m going to rip his throat out.

Nilsen: Oh I bet I know what he said. I get too emotional ::beat:: and I need a break ::hits bag:: Well I’m sorry for caring about what happens in my OC and not sitting in my ivory tower ::hits bag:: I’m sorry that when I saw the worst moment of life on the Dow, I wasn’t as cold as a Vulcan.::hits bag:: I'm sorry your new boyfriend is manipulating you.

Lhandon’s rage had started gripping at him again. The four of them were his life preserver and his rage was a whirlpool pulling Lhandon in. Caras was going to try and grab and pull as hard as he could.

O’Reilly: I’ve never seen the Lieutenant like that, but then again, I’ve only been around him a few times…

Caras: don’t do anything rash, Lhando.

Caras thought that use of his nick name would help remind him that things were calm, but Morro could see the rage on Nilsen’s face as he was pulled in again.

Nilsen: I’m going to ::yells:: =/\= Computer locate Henr...

Nis: Wait! If that is his boyfriend, we don’t know, that seems, like, really invasive. Just saying.

Morro saw Maxwell move to Nilsen like a trained fencer. Closing the distance between him and giving him a disciplinary slap on the back of the head. Like one would do to a pet misbehaving. Maxwell radiated the gravitas of someone who was assuming control of the situation. Morro saw now why he was the “big guy”. He seemed to look down on Lhandon at that moment, despite their size.

Maxwell: You can welly that bag until your hands bleed laddie. But you're no laying a hand on another member ae this crew. ::He paused for barely a heartbeat.:: You understand me, aye?

O’Reilly: Hey Lhandon, why would Toxin do anything to hurt you, maybe he just doesn’t realize what’s happening? (beat) Maybe he just needs his head checked?

O’Reilly made contact with Lhandon’s shoulder.

Caras: But if it’s interfering with his command decisions, isn’t it something that needs to be reported and assessed by ::pausing to think:: the first officer?

The chief of operations would most likely report directly into command, and usually personnel matters when it came to duty fell to the First officer on most ships. However Caras remembered from the academy that other ships could have different structures.

Nilsen: Response

Nis: Maybe you’re right. But maybe one of us should do it. For example, we could call him into medical. Dr. Toz asked us to go through most of the crew anyway to make sure there weren’t lingering effects from the Dow. And it’s obvious that there are some, cause like we said, Lt. Toxin is probably hallucinating, so, you know, we should probably take a look at him anyway. But that way you’re not confronting him, we are. And it won’t even seem like a confrontation, it’ll just be natural doctor-speak.

Maxwell: Listen tae the doc here. ::His expression lightened.:: Nae fighting.

O’Reilly: Yeah, if you get yourself thrown off this boat who the heck am I gonna have left to harrass. (beat)

Caras couldn’t really see Nilsen getting violent with another crew member. He figured Nilsen was more responsible than that. That’s why Lhandon was here to vent things, responsibility. Why was everyone acting like Lhandon was a time bomb here… Was he? Was Lhandon actually violent?

O'Reilly: Look, I may not know Toxin well, but I know he's a good officer. Maybe we're all jumping to conclusions here?

Caras: Lieutenant Arlill is the chief of ops and doesn’t really have to report why he moved Nilsen to a different shift. That unfortunately is his prerogative. I say that it’s a bad choice and a waste of a good officer, but this isn't democracy, this is the chain of command.

Maxwell/Nis/Nilsen: Response

O'Reilly: What if we arrange a casual meetup? Get Toxin and Henry together with us, see how they interact?

Caras liked where O’Reilly’s head was at. There were other ways to solve this that were not official avenues. Casual conversation was one, and social examination.

Caras: Not a bad idea. I figure if we have a casual talk with both of them, and see how they react if Lhandon walks by, we’ll have our answer if there is unduly fraternization.

Maxwell/Nis/Nilsen: Response

O'Reilly: Either way, we need to handle this a bit more gently. The last thing we want is to create more tension in the crew. (beat) and that’s coming from a marine ::looking over at Maxwell::

Caras: I’m with O’Reilly on this one. The smart choice is almost never violence::laughing nervously:: but you’d never actually put your hands on another officer right?

Caras looked to Nilsen, hoping not to see him act shamefully to the question.

Maxwell/Nis/Nilsen: Response

Caras: I’m new to the ship and I just want to make sure that everyone gets along, but at the end of the day it’s my business because you’re my friend Lhando. Professionally I don’t have a stake in it, but that isn’t what this is about.

O'Reilly/Maxwell/Nis/Nilsen: Response

Caras: Look we’re all here for you man. Look around, the four of us see that you’re in pain and we’re all here to help you in the ways that you need.

Nilsen: Response

Caras: Have some faith that we can help right this wrong for you. Please.

O'Reilly/Maxwell/Nis/Nilsen: Response
