OOC: As always, thoughts and actions are IC only. Whisper dialogue has been removed as Achi wouldn’t hear it. :)

((Diplomatic Conference Room 2, Deep Space 14))

Achi brustled at the thought that Domeni seemed to warrant two officers to care for their needs, whereas Ilini and this one received an officer each. Maybe Starfleet had been secretly negotiating with the Mongar until now, and these talks were just for show. Would they assist the Mongar in becoming the defacto government of Cheyd'lang?

Trinot: So, are these ones sent to the side while the actual negotiations take place with those ones?

Illini: Perhaps these ones have been.

Achi glanced over to the other Chey’d in the room; it was difficult to read that one.

Loq: Both negotiations are important. This one finds conversation is easier in smaller groups. Everyone has a chance to make their thoughts heard without getting lost in the crowd.

Halloway: Yes,

Loq: We should begin by reaffirming the Federation's position. We do not seek territorial expansion or conquest, we are looking to foster friendly relations and mutually beneficial trade. Our great war was fought against the Founders, not the people who lived under their yoke. These ones are happy to see an independent and prosperous Cheyd'lang as our ally and partner.

A scoff erupted from Achi. Were those one’s memories so short they forgot the meddling they did upon this one’s home? When the former King’s Path representative entered the station and saw Loq’s cranial ridges, Trinot realized that the individual was Klingon from what little intelligence had available in the Federation infopacket. However, it seemed there was less in common than was initially anticipated.

Illini: It is important to know that all castes have always played a role in negotiating the future of the planet--even the castes Starfleet doesn’t like.

In the past, Achi had wrestled with the idea of the caste system but never voiced his opinion. However, as their faction was ‘absorbed’ into the Mongar, it reignited archaic feelings of patriotism, which helped overlook certain other elements. What was more interesting in this latest nugget was that Illini still seemed to favour castes.

Halloway: That is good to hear, these ones value your efforts towards peace.

Illini: :: to Trinot :: And that one knows that this one lives by the eternal words of Consul Ber’laghieri: “Even the weak together thrive over great ones apart.”

Halloway: He sounds like a wise leader.

Loq: This one's people have a similar adage. It seems true wisdom knows no borders.

Trinot watched as the long-haired one looked to the pointy-faced one.

Illini: This one’s needs are simple, if a bit extravagant. But this one is not the planet. So what can you offer these ones that these ones do not have alone?

As another look was shot across the table between the same individuals, this one again wonders if those ones had any negotiating power. This one hadn’t expected them to roll out the Federation present, but there was a distribution of power that perhaps didn’t reach down to those in this room.

Loq: As you know, the Federation is eager to trade, and open to exchanging technology. But there will be time for that later. For now, these ones want those ones oO was that the proper way to say "you", plural? Loq hoped he hadn't misspoke. Oo to feel like those ones have a partner in the Federation.

Halloway: Yes, These ones just want to make these talks easier for you.

Illini: Response

Now, whispers were being exchanged across the table, the contents unknown to this Chey’d.

Loq: These meetings so often keep these ones stuck in small, windowless rooms ::he gestured to the beige walls::. Perhaps a tour of the station would be a more pleasant setting.

A deep frown set in on Trinot’s face. They’d just settled in, and now those ones were upending the location. It was distraction after distraction: food, beverages, breaks, tours.

Illini: Response

Halloway: Of course, we are all friends here.

Loq: In that case, this one will lead the way. ::He made a sweeping gesture towards the door he hoped came across as polite::

Achi stood but made no motion towards the door.

Trinot: No ::pausing, trying to remember:: Qurgh'Loq and Halloway… this one will not move until there is progress made in these discussions. ::turning to Illini:: Starfleet has already meddled in the affairs of the Chey’d and left them in a worse state. This one sees no upside.

Beady eyes stared across their beak, flicking between the room's occupants.

Illini/Halloway/Loq: Response

Trinot: ::shaking his head:: You underestimated how much power this one can yield. Yes, the King’s Path, previously the second largest faction on Chey’d, has been cut down and absorbed, but do not mistake that for inertia or acceptance. Should the wind blow against these ones much further, the wrath will be felt for generations to come.

How much the remaining King’s Path could deliver on the threat was unclear, even to Achi. But the Mongar hadn’t provided the old faction members much of a life. Only grunt work was available to most, but that meant they could likely clog up the societal machine for a meaningful duration.

Illini/Halloway/Loq: Response

Trinot: You want progress? Figure out how the King’s Path gets restored, and these ones might be able to overlook their aversion to outsiders. If not… this one will leave that to your imaginations.

Illini/Halloway/Loq: Response

Achi sat back down, tour averted; veins pumping, adrenaline high, this was a different kind of battlefield.
