(( Transporter Room 2, Deck 4, USS Octavia E. Butler ))

Toz watched as Una immediately began analyzing the situation with her tools. She certainly had a lot of tools. The doctor was amazed. Smiling, she nodded. Good person to keep around.

Una: Yes, ma'am! We are definitely out of phase.

The workstation showed Lia clearly that the transporter sequence had apparently worked as intended, and Isslai had raised no alarm because according to her station, nothing had gone awry. No help there. Lia waved a hand in front of Isslai's face.

Rouiancet: Chief! Chief?!

No response. Lia turned back to her companions, Toz catching her eye, both of them quizzical. Two shadowy figures moved between them, apparently just on their way somewhere.

Toz: I can see them but I can’t touch them. Can’t talk to them, either.

Rouiancet: I wonder who they are?

Una's analysis continued, her focus unwavering despite the weight of everyone's gaze. The captain's stare was particularly intense.

Una: There are two possibilities I can think of. It could be the 'ghost' out of phase crew of the Unity Dow. Or, and this is a long shot, it could be some kind of phased-out hungry alien life form.

That was highly unlikely. Maybe. Alien lifeforms were rampant throughout the universe.

At that moment, there came a loud groan.

Groaner: Help me.

Dr. Toz had rushed over to the man, not thinking about whether he was real or not. Kneeling down, she waved her tri-corder over him.

Toz: What’s your name? Are you from the Unity Dow? Do you hurt anywhere?

Groaner: Name’s Nilsen. Barney Nilsen. From the Dow

Una tilted her head to the side (like a Labrador), studying this Nilsen with an intensity that bordered on obsession.

Nilsen! That definitely made Lia's ears prick up, even as Nilsen -- this Nilsen, not the Lhandon Lia knew well -- lapsed into unconsciousness. Toz looked to Lia.

Toz: Any ideas? Sickbay?

Rouiancet: (a nod) Let's give it a try. Una, will you see if the door will open for us? Toz, let's get him up.

Una: Yes, yes ma’am.

By using her modified tricorder and d-pad to interact out of phase, Una easily opened the Sickbay door.

((Moments later: Sickbay))

Toz: Get him to the bio-bed and light up those monitors.

Una watched as the captain and Tox dragged Nilsen into the sickbay. She couldn't have carried him.

Rouiancet: Any relation to our Lhandon, do you think?

Una: Lhandon has a rather large family, several brothers and sisters. The brothers are: Marcus, Madison, Key’ran. His father's name is Harold and he has a dog named Uno; nice name, don't you think? Yes, but excuse me, I took a look at his public file and I have a photographic memory...I don't remember any Barney. Could he be a cousin? Or maybe her husband?

Toz was staring at the petty officer with a puzzled looked. A petty officer having access to personnel files?

Toz: You looked at his… oh, yes, public file. ::shaking her head::

About to say more, Toz was interrupted by a chirping comms. A voice crept through the badge. It was shot through with static, but still distinct.

Voice: How much longer will it be?! How much longer must I suffer alone?!

They all froze almost dropping the new Nilsen. The voice sounded as if it came from the afterlife.

Rouiancet: Um. Hello?

Toz : ::looking around:: If you’re able, tell us where you are.

Toz aimed her attention at Una.

Una: I can't explain why from a theoretical standpoint, but something about the data seemed off.

Rouiancet: Response

Toz: Here! Get Nilsen onto the bed, while I flip on the monitors then we’ll figure out the rest. ::nodding toward Una’s tricorder:: Any information there?

Una: I have a theory... I'm detecting a variance in certain tetra-micron particles. Based on the data we collected during the previous banana, uh, teleportation incident. We've teleported out of phase. But, our safety protocols prevent unstable quantum teleportation. It's as if their phase, besides being out of sync with our natural phase, is continuing to shift slightly. I don't think this is exactly healthy for their integrity.

Toz: I don’t understand most of that. If we’re out of phase, then what we’re seeing may not be real.

Rouiancet: Response

Una: We could attempt to individually lock onto their signal and try teleporting them back again  into this phase, stabilizing them in the process. Subsequently, we can teleport them back to the normal phase using the negative energy sequence we employed to return to phase initially. Am I making sense?

Toz: No. ::beat:: Do you mean we can teleport… like switching a non-responsive computer off then on to… kind of reset everything?

Rouiancet/Una: Response

OOC: Off for the weekend. Didn’t do much here.
