(( Sick Bay, Deck 7, USS Octavia E Butler ))

Miash entered the sickbay for the day. The lights were dim and the biobeds were vacant. It was a welcome sight since no one was sick, but it also left her feeling a bit lonely without anyone to talk to. Miash walked over to her preferred spot, a corner of the triage area in sickbay. It wasn't officially her station, but she had personalized it with a few professional mementos.

As head nurse, one might expect her to have at least a small office. However, sickbays were designed for the sick and the doctors, not so much with nurses’ needs in mind. This was yet another motivation for Miash to pursue her studies diligently.

Toz: =/\= Dr. Toz to Nurse Miash. =/\=

She no sooner had begun going through the last shift’s notes when the comms startled her.

Miash: =/\= Miash here. =/\=

Toz: =/\= Hope I’m not interrupting anything. =/\=

Miash: =/\= Not at all doctor. =/\=

Toz: =/\= I’ll get right to it. How would you feel about Lieutenant Kessler working with us? As a nurse. Or nurse’s aid?  =/\=

Miash: =/\= I’m sorry doctor, isn’t he security? Why would he want to work in sickbay? =/\=

Toz: =/\= Beats me. It’s just a thought but IF he’s not re-instated as a tactical officer, he might be useful in sickbay. He does have medical training and we can teach him what he doesn’t know. =/\=

Miash quickly pulled Lt. Kessler’s personnel record on her device, her access was limited to biographical data and medical history, with some family history information.

Miash: =/\= I would certainly appreciate additional help in sickbay, especially if we're likely to face more of what we encountered on our last mission. It would be a plesure to have him dear… umm doctor. =/\=

Toz: =/\= Well, we need to clear it with the XO, of course.  =/\=

Miash: =/\= Of course, should I start planning a training routine for him? =/\=

Although Miash didn't tell the doctor directly, she was somewhat excited about training a new nurse. This opportunity would help her enhance her nursing capabilities and hone her skills for her future role as a doctor.

Miash: =/\= Doctor, before you leave, Ensign Thompson came in complaining of headaches again. I provided a general analgesic and, since she was ending her shift, a mild sedative. I hope that's okay? =/\=

((ooc: I was wondering if Miash might need reminders along the way that she’s not yet a doctor.))

Mia assumed it would be fine. She wasn't really violating any protocols. Normally, a nurse would consult the doctor before performing treatments like this. However, she didn't want to interrupt the doctor earlier.

Tox: =/\= Response =/\=

The comm closed, leaving Miash alone once again. She placed her PADD back on the desk and began to head towards the resupply closet at the back of the sickbay. Suddenly, the door emitted its distinct welcoming sound, signaling the arrival of a visitor to the department.

As Miash turned around, she found herself face-to-face with an individual she had not yet met on board. Always cautious not to stare, Miash was taken aback. She was well aware that her large ears were quite noticeable, and it bothered her when others stared. However, in her over 100 years, she had never encountered a Borg.

She had heard rumors of an XB onboard, but she hadn't expected to meet them this soon. Her surprise got the better of her, and she found herself staring a little.

Xaivis: Response

Miash: I’m sorry, I didn’t meant to, ummm, how can I help you (beat) dear ::with a slight inquisitive inflection::
