Jaren had found what he could given the time and access to systems that he had but importantly he’d found a schematic to add to the data packet Lhandon wanted him to prepare.
Tarnas: I’ve managed to find a schematic, and have prepared the data packet with everything we’ve managed to find out so far. Do you want me to send it now?
Richards: Not trying to play the expert here but we probably want to make sure we aren’t consuming any more power than we need to. If we are low already, maybe a big data transfer isn’t the best idea.
Considering the OEB had managed to help Kaelith from their end, the portable fusion generator he’d brought down wasn’t exactly being taxed. Sending a data packet, even a large one would consume only a small amount of the fusion generators power and take mere minutes - at most - to transmit. Not that he would even call the data packet they had large at this point. He’d compressed all the data as much as possible to keep the data packet size down, and that had shrunk it by 67%. It could easily be uncompressed at the other end with no risk of data loss.
Tarnas: You’re right to be cautious but I can assure you that the fusion generator isn’t even at half capacity yet. There’s more than enough power to send the data.
Nilsen/Kaelith: Response
Richards: Sounds like we need a plan.
Tarnas: On that, I agree.
Nilsen/Kaelith: Response
Richards: Well maybe we can do both at once.
Tarnas: Or one thing then the next, if not. In any case, the data packet isn’t going to take long to send.
Even if they ended up learning more, after sending the data they could either send a second packet, or take the additional learning back with them when their ride collected them. He didn’t know how long it would be before they were picked up but it felt like it was going to be sooner rather than later.
Jaren looked to Nilsen as the team’s leader for his decision on the matter.
Nilsen/Kaelith: Response
Tarnas: Aye, sir. Sending the data packet now.
As per SOP, the data was heavily encrypted. He’d taken special care over this knowing that there were mercs and players in the area who might be interested in trying to intercept this data. The possibility of it was completely negligible because he’d taken care both with data security and minimising the file sizes. Unless someone was looking for it and knew exactly where and when to look, even finding the data stream would be almost impossible. By the time anyone realised there even was a data stream it would already have finished transmitting. Jaren pressed the submit button to send his prepared packet, and then watched its progress for a moment. At the rate the data was transferring, the data would finish transferring in as little as 15 seconds. He listened to what was happening around him as he watched the progress bar quickly fill.
Nilsen/Kaelith/Richards: Response
Tarnas: The data packet has been sent successfully.
Nilsen/Kaelith/Richards: Response
Tarnas: Is there anything I can help with?
